    sp4 dust cap warm

Have you double checked the connections from the stereo? Kinda sounds like you might have the wrong singals going to the wrong speakers. Having high frequencies going through the sub would heat it up as it is not cooling itself. And that could explain why your tweets distort when messing with the EQ. A signal issue is all that comes to mind to me. Try running some test tones as well.

Which Fi sub for Home Theater??

I've had a very good experience with using 2 Fi X's at 800 watts on a qsc amp. I would suggest th sp4 from Fi, or go with with the TC sounds Pro or Ultra. Looking at your setup I would suggest TC sounds. You can go to their website but as of right now partsexpress is the only online dealer that I've found so far. For more info on enclosures i would suggest posting on the TC forums. There are several very knowledgeable people on there that can give you suggestions.

    SP4 vs N2

I got a specific question. In a daily setup tuned to have a fairly flat response in the optimum sized ported enclosure, which one would have the highest average output over the majority of the frequency range of lets say 28-65? I'm trying to decide whether to buy a used N2 and a new SP4... I love the 21 Warden I have but it's in a SUV. The next one is going in a trunk. I could use the weight savings. But I would like to be able to have more output and run a single sub setup instead of two Idmaxes.

    Big Secret?

Thanks to you in Duran for explaining that. I see it as a worthwhile investment to because in my opinion it will increase the longevity in the long run...

    18" BTL N2 Box Design

Well I found this thread informal at least.. The first time I tried aeros I did it on a 21" warden and the psp-inc website doesn't give recommendations based on woofer specs just on the enclosure. Needless to say.. I don't design or build my own enclosures.. I do try to map them out on free programs. But the shop I go to for this has much better tools at hand. I buy what I want to use and they do the rest.... Even if it's not what I wanted them to do... I do want to see the results of this build though. I want to do an 18" and I'm trying to decide on the N2, Xl, or XXX on 3k with about 6-7 cuft...

FI BTL 18 or SSA ZCON?

That trunk is bigger than it looks. In the same body style I got 8 cubes and still had room for 3 amps and two batteries. That was a two piece box though 3 15's sealed in that one

FI BTL 18 or SSA ZCON?

Do a tahoe or trailblazer....X2 on the tahoe because finding a dual alt bracket from a blazer sucks....

    N2 box size

Not a bad idea may just put a hot wire across the gain and bass boost knobs. But back to the original question.....

    N2 box size

I'm trying to figure which I would be better off doing a 15" N2 in 5 cuft box after port displacement or a 18" N2 in the same size box and same power tuned to 32 hz. What are some of the opinions of what I would lose/gain over going with the 18 as opposed to the 15 other than more cone area? I was thinking I might lose a little low end and get higher box rise on the 18" but then again I'm not 100% sure. I'm doing a build on my friends car while he's away. the car is a 04 sebring convertible. As far as power goes it'll be 1.5-2.5k. Not sure what I want to go with yet as he is not a very responsible listener and I'm probably going to have to glue the gain down to keep him from messing with it.

    New Numbers

I'm a 21 warden in a 96 blazer as well. Can you post pics of your setup. I get a little heat on my dustcap as well. My box has a 2" fiberglass window in it and the coil never smokes or glows so that may be normal. It just depends on how the cooling system is designed from what I can tell from the many subs I've had. Like my IDmaxes where the the dustcap is used to draw out heat so its always warm after running for awhile.
  15. if all else fails on the the amp part just solder it. I've also drilled a hole through the block and a nut and bolt or a screw and some funny looking threaded washer. Just be creative with it
