  1. Hello! This is my first post here. Crossing my fingers that I'm not breaking any forum rules. I have a 12 inch GCON ordered and the wait is killing me already. I've already purchased an amp and box for this sub and I'd like to have any willing opinions on my choices. The amp: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_43132_Hifonics-GLX1800.1D.html The enclosure: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_19279_Belva-Sub-Box-1SV12B-Belva.html A few questions: How did I do? Will this pound like crazy? How much impact will my smaller than suggest enclosure have on the sound? Ported good? How should I wire this beast-sub to this amp? (I'm thinking just running it at 650w @ 4ohms to avoid problems with the following...)Will I need to upgrade my factory wiring in my ride? My battery? My alternator? If I did wire it for 1200w @ 2ohms would this be bad for the sub? (considering I don't roll around pounding at super high volume levels, plus the gain would probably be turned down in this scenario) It's going to be a long wait for this puppy. I'm fairly certain (hopeful) this will be the best system I've ever owned. A couple a months ago my humble 300w amp and single 12" infinity sub was stolen. My wife gave me a 500 budget to replace it with our tax money.. yea.. $490 spent so far, honey! Thanks for your feedback and thoughts my fellow bass-lovers. Edit: Oh I forgot one more question! My car currently has a 4 gauge power wired to the trunk. I think if I wire it for 4 ohms I'll be safe right? What would happen if I wired it for 2 ohms?
  2. I'm still waiting for the GCON 10-D2 to actually arrive, but figured I'd take the time to look for a amp to power this beast now. It will be in a sealed box, in a saturn ion 2003. Looking to present a 1ohm load at amplifier, since I'm assuming that power at 4ohms is asking too much for my budget. No HO alt, or big 3 done yet, assuming it won't be needed yet though. I was mostly wondering if I'd need to feed it the full 750w, or if I could get by with less, near the 500w level? Just wondering as my budget is a bit tight currently, and I was hoping to grab the amp for under $150. Given what I've listed, would any of these amps work well, or are there others I should be considering? All listed are CEA-2006 compliant, so I'm assuming they all do rated. 1. Concept CC-D1200 (Apparently 750W @ 1ohm stable, manufacturer refurb, so not new) 2. Massive Audio N2 (800w @ 1ohm) 3. PPI BK650.1D (650w @ 1ohm) 4. Hifonics GLX1000.1D (1000w @ 1ohm) 5. MB Quart ONX1.1000D (1000w @ 1ohm) Thanks for taking the time to look, hoping I get some great feedback!

    GCON Ported Box Design

Have a 12" GCON in a sealed box. It sounds great but I am wanting more and I know the sub will give it to me if I can put it in the right enclosure. I used the ICON enclosure design for the sealed box it is in now, would the ICON ported design work well for the GCON as well? It falls into the optimal range, 2.5f^3 tuned to 33hz. It is a 2 ohm sub with 500 watts powering it in the trunk of a '96 accord. I have about 32" x 20" x 18" to work with. Anyone have any experience or recommendations for a ported box design that will work well with the GCON?

  5. Looking for a box design for my 12" GCON. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
  6. I ordered around the 9 of september but talked to Aaron not to long ago about the wait time and he said the build house was finishing their move and that there was a bit of demand. I was in no rush and don't mind waiting a couple extra days. Anyways, here are the pictures. This thing is a monster. Not installed yet, but I'm impressed with it thus far. (trying to fix pictures now)
  7. I just ordered a pair of GCON 12" D4 to be powered by a couple of 800W RMS amps. While waiting, I figured I'd build a box to fit in my trunk. After deciding I wanted to go with a sealed box to save room on space and measuring the insides of my trunk, I sat down with google sketchup and this is what I came up with. It will be cut from a sheet of 48"x96"x3/4" MDF, wood glued, and then wrapped in trunk-matching carpet. Let me know what you think!

    4 GCON or 2 ZCON 12

Which do you feel would be best? I have a Crescendo BC3500D to power it.
  9. I just finished up with my install: 2) 12" D2 GCONS in a DC-Creations Sealed Enclosure, all installed in a 2012 Volkswagen GLI running from the factory fender audio system to a LC2i LOC and Kicker ZX1000.1 Amp w/ KnuKonceptz Kolossus Flex 0 ga kit. GCONS: Visually: I placed my order and received the speakers about 25-30 days later, just like the guys @ SSA said. Between the heavy foam surround, to the huge magnet, to the frame, they look SICK. Looks wise, I can't complain, the build quality seems to be great; real heavy duty shit here. When I bought my kicker amp from the car audio shop around the block, the guy I dealt with asked what I was running for subs. So I showed him... His eyes light up and he says, "SSA... never heard.. WOW! Those look SERIOUS!" DC Creations: Build Quality: I ordered a stage-one sealed enclosure with the flush mounting option, built to the max dimensions of my vehicle. The enclosure is around 1.3 - 1.35 ft^3 per speaker. Received it in the expected time-frame with no issues. Build quality is awesome and I really liked the way the guys at DC wired up the box for me; 2 runs of heavy gauge wiring shrink tubed right to the terminals. It was basically plug and play. The enclosure was built like a brick shit house compared to one my old prefabbed enclosures. No comparison there. Fitment: The GCONS slipped right into the flush mount face, wired right up, VERY EASY. It was perfect in all aspects. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED Performance: Overall the installation went well; getting all the LC2i and ZX1000.1 adjustments were a pain but I finally have then fine-tuned and I couldn't be happier. This was my first sealed enclosure so I really wasn't expecting much in the area of loudness (compared to my Kicker L7s in a ported enclosure), especially running off the factory head-unit. Honestly - I'm impressed in all aspects of their performance (Enclosure and Subs). They get low, they get high, they're punchy and most importantly, they're really clean and tight; I don't understand why it took me this long to go sealed. Loudness - Unless you're competing, I can't see ever needing any more SPL than this. My car has a sunglass compartment that pops down from the headliner. When I turn up the volume - it flies open and my sunglasses fall on the floor... Every time.... Its really impressive. The rear-view mirror doesn't move around in circles like I've seen in some SPL videos but it shakes a LOT -the same goes for my side-view mirrors. A friend of mine runs a pair of 12" Alpine Type-Rs @ 600-700W each in a sealed enclosure; All I'll say is this - every time I see him now, he asks me to trade. The Type-Rs get pretty damn hot, pretty damn quickly. I'm not sure that I'd feel comfortable running them hard for any longer than 15-20 minutes at a clip. Last night I took a 2-3 hour road-trip running my GCONS pretty damn hard (safely of course). I felt the cones out of curiosity - BARELY WARM after 3 hours in a SEALED BOX @ 550-600W Each. Overall: Although they were only around 200 bucks each, I'm not sure that I'd call the GCON a budget subwoofer. The only thing budget is the price. I can only imagine how loud these would be in a ported enclosure from DC-Creations. 2 THUMBS UP AND HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Will try to get some GoPro videos up this weekend.

    CRX part deux with Gcons

I'm in the process of completely changing the crx's build so I decided to start a new build log. The old one can be found here: http://www.soundsolu...1-honda-crx-si/ The last thing I did in the build was add the new second amp rack with the LEDs under both amps (which I have yet to get a decent photo of, Sefugi). From there I was just so used to everything and was starting to compete in some comps and with a local in town. First thing that needed to be done was a new front stage, again. Pre ordered the Sundown Audio Neo Pro 6.5" mids with some infinity tweets. Found a great deal on an Alpine 9887 and grabbed that up quick. Before: After: Before: After:
  11. We are getting closer and closer to the new GCON 750W RMS Series Driver. We have been referring to this driver up until now as the FCON as we were unsure what to call it officially. We are going with GCON, becuase it's hits the "spot". Here is a sneak peak at the motor. Sorry for the crappy cell phone shot, but this is all we are releasing at this time. Please don't ask for more, they will come when we can get the professional photos done.
