    Sub size choice

Hey guys, I plan on building a system from scratch when I buy a new vehicle. Im planning on buying a Jeep Grand Cherokee and buying a BC5500d and I will have plenty of space in the rear of the SUV but I cant decide if I want to get 2 12"s sundown x-12s or an 18" SSA Evil. Those subs are just examples, Im not set on any one brand or sub. What do you guys think? 2 12"s or an 18" or something else possibly? Matt

    Dual 12" Xcon Box

Hi, Been out of the game for a bit after selling my system, 2x15" SSA Icons in 7.2cubes net 32hz on Crescendo BC2000D. Anyways Im picking up 2 12" SSA Xcons for a crazy price and want to put them in my 03 Dodge 3500. I only want to lose 1 seat so dimensions are a bit tight. 32" tall x21" wide by 25" deep. I think I can get around 5 cubic feet net, (may be able to gain an inch or two on depth) question is how much port area should I aim for? They will be ran on low power, JL JX1000 for now so only 500rms each. Probably wont be adding much more as I dont have the money for electrical or space. if I aim for 70+ and around 5 cubic feet would that be ok? Thanks, Codester

    Team IAK Explorer

My old build log was deleted when DSS lost their section. So I have to start from scratch. Here is the update for my truck for the 2015 season. This build will be complete by October 2015 and will consist of the following hardware. 6 Team SSA 15" subwoofers 3 Taramps HD30kSPL amplifiers 3 JuiceBox LiFePo4 80ah batteries and 1 20ah. Single Reflex Bandpass Enclosure 10 cuft sealed, 35 cuft ported, 900cuin port area The end goal is to do a 165 any where. My last build loudest score was 162.3 outlaw with 6 15" DSS Ethos and 3 Taramps HD8000 This is still my only vehicle that I own.
  4. Okay guys these are two Dual Two Ohm DVC 12'' SSA XCON's with custom carbon fiber caps for added strength less than six months old with literally less than a weeks worth of total play time. Reason i am selling them is because honestly they are far too damn loud for me to be used on the daily lmao. They get VERY loud and VERY low!!! Speakers alone can be had for $800 shipped to your door. Box was custom built to the exact optimal specs for both subs by Dave the Box Guy himself and can be had with speakers for $1,000 or alone on its own for $200 (a mere FRACTION of what i paid) but you must pay for shipping on it and it ain't gonna be cheap. Any additional questions or concerns please feel free to PM me. Also i do have a Crescendo BC3500D for sale on here in another thread currently just FYI:D
  5. This was a build at my old house, decided to go all out before I moved out lol. System consisted of one audiopipe apsm wired @1ohm on the xcon, powered by a couple wet cells and a battery charger. Mids and highs were ran off and Rockford Fosgate 500.2 on some yamaha bookshelf speakers @8ohms. Soundstream 7 band EQ was my main line driver/signal processing unit. Played all the way down to 9hz with authority, but didn't play much above 48hz, not that I'm complaining. I'm going to be doing a rebuild for it fairly soon at my new place, with more power. Going to have strapped APSMs on the xcon, and some new batteries for some powah.

    box for a 10" xcon

2012 focus sedan. currently running a prefab decent but cheap box ..in its current position metered 138 @ 37hz sealed on the windshield. fired the box forward today and noticed it wasn't half as loud this tells me my positioning is right for this car. So my question is do you think this box is working well or should i build a new box different specs i don't compete but i like loud and low this setup is pretty good for a single 10 but i think there is room for improvement would like some opinions/box ideas my max dimensions are going to be around W x H x D 30x14x27 to easily be able to fit through trunk opening which is a must as it needs to be removable when i DJ Also like to mention i prefer aero ports !! specs are as follows (W x H x D): 30" x 13-1/2" x 16" (net. int.): 2.0 cubic feet 1-1/4" Reinforced MDF front baffle 2.0 ft^3 slot-port tuned @ 32Hz

    SSA ZCON 12's 1 working 1 broken

I have 2 SSA zcons 12's D1 These subs are absolutely amazing. As stated in title 1 is working 1 is not, burn mark in spider appears to be tinsel $450 + shipping for both
  8. I am thinking about building a T-line for my 3 SSA DCON 12's. Has anybody here tried it or have any experience with T-lines? If anybody wants to give a shot at helping with the design it would be great. Before you comment that "The box will be huge!" , yes I know. Thanks.
  9. Hey everyone, this post/question is mainly directed toward the big guy. I am wondering which SSA sub you would recommend to me given these limits/stipulations: 2014 Honda Civic Sedan 1500 Watts on tap (Crescendo Symphony 1500) LIMITED SPACE... I am only looking to build and install an enclosure no larger than 1.5 net cubic feet. That being said, I have been considering either a 12" ICON sealed. A 12" XCON sealed (XCON being the most I can afford). Or, one of those two in the 10" variety, ported. This is for a daily driver, and I will need as much trunk space I can get, but still get loud and sound good. What is your input? Anyone else, feel free to chime in.

  11. I was on the forums awhile ago and got some great help designing a box from a member (can't remember who). Just wanted to show what he helped me do. I have 3 SSA DCON 12's in a 1999 Chevy Tahoe. I just metered on a TermLab and the results were great. I have had this system in for over a year and this is the first time I have had it metered. Thanks again for the help from the build... http://i1241.photobucket.com/albums/gg506/eddielong1975/376572_532111330147364_1694144002_n_zpsfdfeacd5.jpg http://i1241.photobucket.com/albums/gg506/eddielong1975/218079_532113020147195_1480755921_n_zps062b6a97.jpg http://i1241.photobucket.com/albums/gg506/eddielong1975/DSCF1556_zpsc40ae279.jpg http://i1241.photobucket.com/albums/gg506/eddielong1975/DSCF1555_zps13de709b.jpg http://i1241.photobucket.com/albums/gg506/eddielong1975/DSCF1552_zpsae1bfbf1.jpg TermLab results http://i1241.photobucket.com/albums/gg506/eddielong1975/20140403_182653_zps901abed9.jpg From the port http://i1241.photobucket.com/albums/gg506/eddielong1975/20140403_191109_zpse462b10c.jpg
  12. Ok, so I've never put a build log on here so please bear with me if I mess this up. This started as me wanting to get louder and ended up like nothing I could have imagined. Its a 2006 Chevy Silverado EXT cab 71 pickup with the 5.3L. Equipment installed is: 2 Singer 350A Alternators (stock running as master) MLA Module American Bass 1100.1 5 C&D Batts 1 XS Power up front 2 sets Boston Pro 60SE Components (Running as coaxial) Boston 2 channel 6 SSA Zcon 15s (4th order enclosure) Some tire/suspension mods to hide the almost 2000lbs of equipment. First the walkaround now into the build pics: (I didnt take very many) ^^^^Crossovers in place of factory bose amp ^^^^Light Test of Million color LEDs ^^^More Color Test ^^Starting to work on the back ^^^Ready for fuses ^^Underhood complete ^^^ Port into cab done.. It needs tuned yet but it hit 154.2 sealed on the TL at 46hz (too high for my blood, gonna put in a loading wall and drop it down. Shooting for 35-40hz peak) More to come!!

  14. Item: Fi Sp4 motor and 15" Ti basket I got this in a trade for an Fi BL, but I won't be able to fit a 15" in my car unless I build a sealed trunk wall. As fun as it sounded, it wouldn't get under way until spring time so I'm selling to get an alternator. Basket will be included in auction and still has terminals on it. Conditon: 9/10 Glue joints are clean; no chips or gashes out of the motor. Back plate was few scratches and over all is in good condition. Price: 250+ shipping to US 50 only please; entertain me with trade offers, but cash is king. Shipping: Item will be properly packed and insured using UPS as carrier. Pictures:

It's Time For a New Sub

Im looking to upgrade my current set up. Ive narrowed down my choices to ether a DC level 3 15, FI SSD 15 with cooling and flatwind coil (which ive heard are comparable to a level 4), and an Incriminator Audio Lethal Injection 15. Ive seen a lot of bs saying that the DC subs dont have good quality soft parts and am looking for some people that have ran these subs before that might be able to give me some insight to help my decision. Basically im looking for the best sub on the lows that can take a daily beating. I have a 3.3 cubic ft box tuned to 34hz in my BMW 330ci and will be pushing around 1100rms daily from my audiopipe 1500d but will be upgrading the amp in the future. I mostly listen to rap music and occationly house.
  16. Tossing up a single 15'' Sundown Zv4 or two 12'' XCON's tuned for lows. I know that the Sundown is built for it but would it be able to offer me the same amount of throw that 24'' of cone area would from two 12's?
  17. Wondering which would get lower and deeper (not necessarily louder) on a daily basis. I listen to strictly Decaf and chopped & screwed music in the high 20Hz range and low 30's
  18. So I was coming home from work yesterday and I was bumping at a decent volume. I started to smell something burning, but it wasn't coil. I took a reading of the coils from the amp today and wasn't getting the correct nominal. Took the sub out and read the coils from terminals. One coil wasn't reading out at all, and the other was reading like 12. Took the coil out and this is what I found: Recone was done in November or so. This sucks.. =[
  19. I seem to have a lot more voltage drop to rear fuse to amp when the seats are up, rather than down. This is a trunk car. Is lack of air flow making the sub work harder? I have the rear 6x9 vacant..

Single 12" ZCON on 3k; Flex issues

    http://youtu.be/ZA1qNaRf2Pw
  21. Hey every this trend is for all you custom box builders who would like to show your box, wall pictures. So post on everyone and lets see your custom work.
  22. So I've been using both equipment for a week now. I'll start with the XCON. It is in a 2 cu. ft. Net and tuned to 32 hz. It sounds amazing from higher bass notes to the low notes. Ppl can't believe its one 12 even though they are staring at it. It has a very nice deep tone with very good accuracy. The lows are INCREDIBLE! This subs moves so much air. I haven't listened to any bass so far i didn't like with this speaker. I like a lot of rock and rap. Not to mention it looks great. Didn't seem to take long to loosen up. I love it, just wish I had one more. Now on to the amp. I previously had a mtx thunder elite 1501d running at 2 ohms. All i did was Change the sub, box, and amp. The crescendo has to be more efficient. I have it running at 1 ohm and it seems to draw about the same power at one ohm as the mtx was at 2 ohm. At 2 ohm the mtx has a birth sheet saying 1211 rms and the Crescendo is 2250 rms at 1 ohm. Very happy with that. The bc2000 seems well built. The setting knobs are smooth and the rca's fit snug. It does get almost hot after hours of playing full tilt but not to hot to touch. The pair of sub and amp sound great together. Hopefully this helps someone. Thanks for reading

    SSA ZCON 15" D2

Item for Sale: SSA ZCON 15" Dual 2 ohm coils Description/condition: I am not original owner, but the sub has been reconed recently in my possession. Suspension is still very stiff as I just reconed the sub a couple months ago, and it has only seen about 15 hrs of play time on ~1700 watts. There is a bit of rust on the bottom of the motor, as well as some scratches on the motor, ferrite slugs are in good shape and not chipped. There is a bit of clear goop glue surrounding the dust cap's position as that's what I like to use on the DC because of its flexible properties. See pics for condition; questions are encouraged! This is a high ticket item and I will do my best to answer all of your concerns and display this sub in its current condition in the proper manner. Shipping: Item will be properly packed, shipped, and insured to your door using UPS as my carrier. US 50 states only please! Price/payment: PayPal only! You pay, I ship. Price: 460$ shipped. OBO Trades: Entertain me with trade offers, but I really just need the money to beef up my electrical, recone an sp4, and get my MMATS 3k fixed. Pictures:
  24. Up for sale is a used when I bought it single 4 ohm 15" SSA DCON sub. It's in great condition showing the usual signs of having been mounted before. I bought this from Sean (W140) awhile back with no real intentions except that it was a good price at the time. I'm getting nickeled and dimed to death at the moment so I need it sold. $120 shipped to anywhere in the CONUS.
