    Blown SP415

I bought my SP415 dual 2 ohm back in October and received it in November and after only 5 months of use, the foam surround is ripped. I can't seem to figure out how this could have happened so any input would be great. Also curious if this is covered by FI's warranty. But here's the setup: -1999 Grand Prix GT Sedan -FI SP415 dual 2 ohm wired to 1 ohm. No spaced spider and no cooling (daily use, didn't see the need) -AQ2200d tuned to 2100 watts RMS using a multimeter -DIYMA oversized 0awg CCA power (appx. 22') and ground (3') with a 200 amp circuit breaker near the battery -Optima Yellow Top -Ohio Generators HO Alt (its an older model but I had them test it and it puts out a minimum of 165 amps and max of 234 amps, and with a smaller pulley it idles at about 200 amps) -Box is appx 4.02 usable cubic feet (after displacement) with sub mounted up and 6" Aeroport entering the cabin -Polk PA660 powering (2) 5.25 Alpine Type S and (2) 6x9 Alpine Type S The electrical is all solid and nothing was rubbing on the sub so how could this happen? The only thing that I could think of is if there were some goofy pressures in the box that were created..but any help is much appreciated.

    HELP on system

Hey guys, i had some concerns about my future system. I'm planning to get an FI SP4 18, AQ3500.1D, and a high output alternator 200@idle and 375 max in the very near future. I can't wait to get it, but now I've ran into another problem. My powerbass oem replacement components and coaxials just aren't going to cut it. I'm planning on running 3000rms to the sub. About how much power would i need in some new tweeters and components, etc., to even out the sound? I don't want to hear JUST bass, i would like some nice highs and mids to come close to match it. Any power, speaker, amp, etc., suggestions would be appreciated.
  3. I'm currently in the process of reconing a 2004 RE XXX v3 15" woofer and haven't made the enclosure yet. I'm planning on building a 3.43 cu. ft sealed enclosure to house this monster, as my goal is more on the ""SQL"" side. The sub's displacement is .21 I've come to a design and have my cut sheets marked and ready to go, but I wanted to see if anyone could provide some input on if I should brace this box with a horizontal or vertical support? Does the enclosure absorb and vibrate this much with that back pressure to where I should brace the box? If so, what materials should I go about using? a piece of wood is fine? The box will have a double baffel, and be receiving about 1400-1600 wrms. I never actually found enclosure recommendations for this driver, but I am open to suggestions. I've only researched successful enclosure designs done by people in the past. Another question is polyfill..Should I use a lb or so to fool the sub into thinking its in a bigger enclosure? Please educate me. Keep in mind another reason Here's a link that helped me decide on an enclosure design: http://www.diymobileaudio.com/forum/member-reviews-product-comparisons/109015-2005-re-audio-xxx-15-review.html Keep in mind, I would go ported if I could, but I dont have enough space in my trunk. I have max like 3.8 cubic ft for a ported.

    SOMEBODY FROM Fi PLEASE HELP!

I ordered an 18in Bl on 1/20/2013 using my dad's credit card and it sat there saying "awaiting payment" for a couple days now and I thought I put in some of the payment information wrong, so I reordered the sub using MY debit card. I've emailed Fi a few times and I just want to make sure that the first order doesn't get charged to my dad's card, I DO NOT WANT TWO SUBS!!!!! SOMEBODY FROM Fi PLEASE RESPOND.

INPUT NEEDED 2 12" Fi BL burp box

Hey guys, I just want to get some input on a burp box for 2 12" BL's fully loaded. This will be for a cross over and running 1000 or 2000 watts. Right now the system is up to 148.4 on 1800 watts with a some what music box. What I want to do is build the burp box so the subs are back and the port on the side. The info and input I need is the size of the box and the size of the port. Im 99% set on using a aeroport and was thinking 8" but would 8" be to small? Some people say the box needs to be big like 5 cubes and some say small like 3 cubes. So im a bit lost on where to start lol.

    **Is this under warranty?**

Ok so today my dual 1 SSD 18 stopped working for seemingly no reason during very low volume music. The sub is not frozen. I checked the sub with a battery and it did nothing, checked all wires etc. etc. I will check the coils on my multimeter when I get to work tomorrow. The box is build to the specs of the sub 7cu.ft. @ 32hz. Powered with a Fosgate t1500-bd (2ohms and very conservative gain). The coils look normal to me, not black or even dark in any way. Sub doesn't and never did smell like burnt coils. I'm thinking the coil's glue failed. I'm stumped on this really as I've been good to this sub and only had it for a few months. I hope Fi will take care of me and warrant the sub. Also if this is under warranty, do you guys know if shipping would be covered?
  11. What are some specs on the ufo style btl 18"? As i cant ind them on the fi site. It was built in 2009,fully loaded dual 1 ohm,got it from a guy that never used it,still in the crate..my main question is what is the xmax on this style btl and are these still in production?? Any input is greatly appreciated..thanks!!
  12. hello im building a sealed box for 2 q15 subs in my 1996 honda civic hatchback, i have a few questions? 1.... should i have each sub in seperate chambers or the same chamber? what is the pros and cons of doing either? 2.... what kind of difference in sound should there be between the largest recommended size encloser and somewhere inbetween? and whats the pros and cons of each? 3.... what kind of effect would there be having the subs down facing? Now for my front stage i want some more midbass, i have 2 different types of 6.5 inch woofers, infinity perfect 6.1 and older set of diamond audio hex series, i was thinking of putting the infinitys in the doors and getting some q-form kick panels for the diamond hex. what are your thoughts on this setup? i will have these crossed over at 80 herts, i dont have the tweeters anymore for these sets so i ordered some silk dome tweeters from parts express and hook the tweeters up to the crossover from the diamond set, then use the infinity perfect 6.1 woofers with their crossover without a tweeter, these two sets would be hooked up to a single stereo amp, what are your guys thoughts on this setup? should i have the infinity set powered by a seperate amp and use the built in crossover on the amp? well thanks for reading...... brian

Sound Noob - open for suggestions

Ok I've never put any sound in any of my cars in the past. I went out one night with friends I was able to ride in an SUV with a decent set-up (from what I experienced) and that got me interested. I have a 30-40min ride to work each day and my OEM speakers are going out so I've been doing my research... From what I've read Fi subs have been given great reviews and the only complaints are due to the lead time on getting them. The set up (in my friend's SUV) that I liked was 2 10" JL w7s in a ported box on a 500w JL amp from what I was told. I prefer sound quality over loudness and won't be going crazy loud. The thing I did like was the fact that I "felt" the bass but the common knock on the w7s seem to be that they are overpriced for what they deliver. I would like some advice in what to go with as far as all aspects based on what those with more experience would recommend on: Component speakers, amp, fi subs, & anything else that a sound noob would need to know This will all be going into an 02 Tahoe w/ non-Bose system and I have somebody to put it in but I'd like the non-bias opinion from people not at an audio shop just trying to upsell me. Thanks in advance

    2 12" SSD Vented Enclosure

Hey all, I've got two 12" SSD's coming in the next few days and I decided to get a headstart on building my box. I've raped the search tool and can't seem to find what I'm looking for. If anyone has some spare time and wouldn't mind doing a fellow enthusiast a HUGE favor, it wouldn't go unnoticed. I'm hoping to get a cutsheet for 2 12" SSD's (ported) for my 2008 Mazda 6 sedan. Here's the preferred specifications. W: 42" (MAX) H: 16" (MAX) D1: 21" preferred D2: 16" preferred Tuned from 30-33hz I'm thinking it'd be cool to have the subs forward-firing at an angle with the seats. Then I could just mount my amp on the trunk side. The angle would take much more advantage of the space but if that's too difficult to calculate I'd understand and just make them rear-firing. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I suck at math and don't trust online calculators :/
