  1. Im building a box for two SA-15's to go in a 2006 honda crv. I will be running them off a HFI 1500D and extra battery. I got the enclosure design from the ssa store and am hoping it works out good. The enclosure is going to be double flushed with bracing and tuned to 35 hz at 8 cubes. My goal is to hit 145 db+ and will upgrade alternator and amp in the future. Im going to post pics of my box build and system should be in by late april. Stay posted and if u have any suggestions or comments don't hesitate!

    CRX part deux with Gcons

I'm in the process of completely changing the crx's build so I decided to start a new build log. The old one can be found here: http://www.soundsolu...1-honda-crx-si/ The last thing I did in the build was add the new second amp rack with the LEDs under both amps (which I have yet to get a decent photo of, Sefugi). From there I was just so used to everything and was starting to compete in some comps and with a local in town. First thing that needed to be done was a new front stage, again. Pre ordered the Sundown Audio Neo Pro 6.5" mids with some infinity tweets. Found a great deal on an Alpine 9887 and grabbed that up quick. Before: After: Before: After:

    2003 VW Jetta GLI VR6

I hate to do a build log before I am completely done, but it looks like I won't get much else done between now and when I leave for Korea, and when I get back, I will probably upgrade, so the build will start over at that point. Starts off as a stock Jetta with an upgraded head unit. Not the best of head units, but it does what I need for now. It is a Kenwood DDX-418. The GLI model comes with from the factory with a Monsoon audio system. This consists of a factory 8 Channel amp running a tweeter and woofer in each door. It sounded good, and got loud, but there was significant lacking of the low range frequencies. Anything below 80Hz was either distorted, or non existant depending on the frequency. What I was looking for in my build was to replicate the frequencies below 80Hz accurately, while still being able to crank up the bass when the song begged for it. For my upgrade I decided to go with 2 Sundown SA-10D4s. I heard nothing but good things about the SA line from Sundown, and expected these woofers would perform to my needs. For power I figured I would try what was recommended by the manufacturer, and go with Sundowns own SAX-1200D which matches the RMS value of the woofers at 1 Ohm. I knew from the beginning that a properly built enclosure would make or break my build, so I researched and found a designer that like Sundown, had the most positive reviews. I filled out a project assessment form after I decided on my equipment, and patiently waited for my design based on my parameters. What I got in return was exactly what I expected. Professionally completed blueprints with everything taken into consideration. 035 by jokers10, on Flickr With that done I started on the build. And now the pictures: (sorry they are so out of focus and grainy. Not really a lot going on here. Just 2 views of a 0-60Hz sine wave sweep. The quality isn't the best since yet again I was using my iPhone 4 and the image stabilization in iMovie. It sounds mechanical, but almost all of the noise is from the cars body panels. I only have the trunk lid done with some peel and stick Rammat. Lots of interior noise in the second view. I will fix that over time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w8yuhexPZFQ

    ported Sundown E-12 tuning

Hey, I am looking to build an enclosure for one Sundown E-12 in the near future. I plan on putting it into a 2.5 cubic foot enclosure. (PWK recommends an enclosure for the E-12 of at least 60L (~2.1 cu ft) for a more linear response) I also want to use a 4" aeroport (precision port) 10.25 inches long for a tuning of 32 Hz. I think my question is, would it be alright to tune this box to 30 Hz? All it would require is 12 of port length compared to the ten and a quarter. I'm just slightly confused because I have heard not to tune too far below a subs res. freq. because it might cause roll-off right at the tuning. If it sounds stupid, that's because I read it once somewhere on a forum haha. The E-12 has an Fs of ~35.8 Hz. If anyone is wondering what this setup will be used for/what is expected of it is... a daily setup, that will hammer lows. Sure I want to get as loud as I can doing this, but I have zero concern for numbers (db). It will be fed 500w from a RF prime 500.1. If there are any other things I forgot to mention that might help in determining if I should tune lower, please let me know. Thanks for the help.
  8. What's up everyone! So you guys are probably used to me posting stuff on Team Sundown Russia with everything being pretty much 100% Sundown gear with a few Skars or Obsidian thrown in to the mix. This time we went a little out of our way to pick up some awesome Fi BTL n2 12's (Thanks Scott! thanks Am!!) here we are unboxing, busting balls over how stiff the spider pack is and generally bullshitting in Russian We plugged them into our in-shop Audi A4 sedan, which has lately become our test mule for just about anything we can get our hands on. It's not sealed off, subs forward, 6" port firing to the side....it's usually used for door open demos at meets and what not, so we set it up to meter that way..it generally peaks 29-30Hz and is within a db from 28 to 38hz, dropping less than 2 at 25hz. Does great on all types of music, moves quite a bit of air and is generally a surpise to most folks..... anyhow, enough rambling. Fi BTL n2's in the box we usually have a Sundown SAZ3500D in there wired to 0.5 (BTLs are also d2's), but since they were obviouslu begging for moar powa we let 'em have it and uleashed a brand new Sundown Audio NS-1 amp on them ( we have clamped upto 9k from one on a big 12v battery bank, but here we are likely pushing closer to 6k considering how it drops to mid 11's) ...still, plenty power for sure

    Sundown Z.v3 18 first Box

This is what I have right now Most of these number where pulled from another Tahoe build to give me a base. Ok now I just messed around with the port length until I got the tuning I wanted (33-35). I don't really get how it is longer than the box? This my first box design and is a temp. box for me to use about a month or so. Sub will be powered by a Cresendo 2k at .5 or 2ohm depending on voltage gain All the way down, and I'm going to take it easy. Any input will be greatly appreciated.
