New system for a Nissan Versa ?

Recommended Posts

I have been out of car audio for about 10 years and im trying to figure out what equipment is still hitting hard and whats new lol.

Ok Im putting a system in a 07 Nissan Versa (small 4 door Hatch) and need some help. Im looking for a nice SQ system that can get a little loud also, I do not plan on any SPL competition. I need some recommendations on the list below that are undecided. Also any input on the equipment I already own. Are the Polks any good, Lanzars any good?... I listen to all types of music but metal (Disturbed, Rammstein, Metallica) is what I normally listen to, I also listen to rap. Yeah Im a mess lol. So what do you think I should get? Lets say I have a budget of about 2k for the undecided parts.

Head Unit: Pioneer AVIC-D3X (own it)

Front Doors: Polk Audio Polk Audio db6501 6-1/2" component speakers (own it)

Kick Panels: Lanzar OPTI64 6.5'' Mid-Bass Driver (own it)

High & Mid Amp: ? Undecided ( 4 channel )

Sub Amp: ? Undecided ( Mono Block )

Subs: ? Undecided ( 2 X 12 in small sealed enclosure or 1 12" not sure lol)

Max box dimensions i can fit in the hatch:

Width: 38"

Heigth: 17"

Depth Top: 8"

Depth Bottom: 15"

This is max. I would rather not use all this depth lol. Still have to find a place for the amps lol.

You could go with the ICON/Sundown Combo that SSA has in the store.

And then for your Polks and Opti's the Sundown SAX-100.4

http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/shop/in...mp;productId=35

If you get a solid amp and sub stage, you can see how you like your current speakers with them. If they don't cut the mustard for you, you can always try something else.

Your combined measurements for the sub box are 3.27402^3ft, more than enough room to work with for a 12" ICON (you'll want 1^3ft sealed). I recently helped on a 1cuft box for a 12".

Thanks for the info, If i went with the ICON/Sundown combo do you think two of them would be overkill? and also my power system in the car. Its a stock 110 amp alt. would i be able to run 3 amps (2 x SAE-1000D and a SAX-100.4). I do like what i see in the Sundown and ICON equipment.

I am biased of course, but the "overkill" would depend on how you blend the Icons in with your front stage. I can say that the Icon/Sundown combo owners have all been very happy. :)

Are the Polks any good, Lanzars any good?.

Compared to what you can get for not a lot of money, no, not really.

I would get with Denim and see if you can work out a deal for 2 ICON's and one SAZ-1500D.

That might be better for simplicities sake.

subs are ok for loud, but won't compare to the ICONS for sq. i have no clue about the quantum stuff, sounds best buy'ish, adn thus stay away from 'ish.

personally, in your car, i would do a pair of ICON 10s with teh sundown 1500. might be able to port the pair and help on the output side of things.

as to your electrical, it wouldn't like a pair of 1000s and a 100.4 . it'll probably dislike the 1500 and a 100.4, but at least you'll be in the neighborhood. as always, a good strong battery upfront (optima yellowtop at a minimum), paired with the big 3 done in 0 guage is a requirement. and an alternator upgrade if needed.

wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :slayer:
