what can prevent this from happening

Recommended Posts

not buying such large rims and low profile tires.

Or........a ton of mass loading on the trunk lid. or......turning the subs around so they are facing forwards and sealing the trunk off behind the front baffle.

sound deadener will definitely help with the crappy rattling sound. i dont know why people think that when their car falls apart, thats its impressive.

i dont think he was talking about the rattle as much as the truck lid flexing so much.

in this case the two are related, though. The rattle is caused by the trunk lid moving an inch. mass load it and the movement goes away, and hence the rattle as well.
