Prototype "SA" Series

Recommended Posts

hey jacob I'm lookin to run 4 12's and 4k this summer

I heard about these, but do you think they could take 1k daily?

and some comparisons to the type r and sdc2.5 would be nice...tryin to decide. Maybe I can hop on the presale depending on what ya think

I'd say a 1kw amp daily wouldn't hurt these. I put 1800 on one on a sine wave for a few minutes and didn't blow it... so they are pretty stout.

thats sweet to know, do you know when they will be available?

Depends on how sales go and how prototype testing goes and if I accept this one as the final revision.

Yes, sealed or ported works great.

What is different in this prototype from the original, I can't tell from the pictures alone :)

1) Adding 10mm to magnet stack

2) Moving vent holes closer to the pole by 5mm

3) Making the coil 5mm taller

4) Creating a plastic spacer ring under the basket @ 10mm thickness

This makes total x-mech 33.75mm vs 26.25mm prior + higher linear excursion + higher power handling.

We need to finish testing the prototype then a few months to produce them.

you intend to produce it by 15? or only 12?

12" size first and later 15" size

Threw the pair of prototypes in my Jeep and hit 149.7 dB :)

Box is made for 15s with way too much port area but they still did quite well!

Derrick is here and has a picture on his phone... trying to get it to upload!

Some more testing this morning... 148.9 with single prototype amplifier @ 1 ohm nominal load:

Yesterday I still had my 4x 3000Ds in so I had a bit more power on tap to squeeze the extra SPL to hit 149.7 dB.
