Enclosure + Setup Help

Recommended Posts

I seen this guy on youtube with 2 18'' Fi.SSD's on 2400-2800rms in this box below hitting 149db. (In a Ford Escort)

www.youtube.com/watch?v=IZhfN9Gxcz8

If he hits that much with entry level subs how much db you think I could hit with this system?? WITH THAT SAME BOX ON HIS VID.

This is my !!!Soon 2 Come!!! Setup how good is it???

Vehicle:(1) 2002 Pontiac Grand Am Gt (2-Door with Sunroof)

SUB:(2) 18'' Fi.BTL (Fully Loaded) D2,cooling,hixm coil,induct heat ring,DAILY

AMP:(2) Sundown SAZ-3000D (& BTL's are recommended @ 2000 Rms)

The btl is getting the whole [3000 rms+] Making a total of 6600 rms

Enclosure:(1):[Ported] 12.6 Cuft. (After Displacemant & Port) Tuned to 34hz. 3/4 MDF

(8):Screws for terminals (Better solid connection no leaks)

(8):Dynamat xtreme speaker kits

(2):Dynamat xtreme license plate kit

(3):Packs of dynamat xtreme (complete car kits)

(1): Dynamat trunk kits

(1):PAC 200amp Battery Isolator

(3):300amp Iraggi HO Alternators

(3):Kinetik HC 2400 Batts.

(1):Kinetik HC 800 (under the hood or yellow top)

Big 3 will be done (beefing up my electrical system) Etc.

Amp Kits:(2) Kicker PKD1

Speakers and components will be by Sundowm

Will that be loud?

Also how deep would it get for two subs with a enclosure that big?

Does Dynamat make your bass deeper?

For a lucky quess do you think I'll hit @ leats 156-158db's+ if not a little over since I have dynamat and because the dynamat website says itself it gives you at leats a 3db increase alone maybe more db's are vechicle variant? But 3db's garanteed!! And because he has entry level subs hitting almost 150db and i have top of the line subs.

Also is'nt there a 3db increase because the subs are going to be in the back seat right behind me and not in the trunk? and since the port is going to be in the trunk can i still do hair tricks or not?

Now I know dynamat gives more bass, better SQ,stops rattling,3db increase if not more,But with three dynamat extreme (Complete Car Kits) can you still hear the bass from outside the car and can people still hear me before they see me or what? And can I still get hairtricks with dynamat or not?

Should i get the enclosure double or triple baffled

With the enclosure being tuned to 34hz. I know it will hit hi notes good but will it still hit low low notes good?

Is that one of the loudest "2 sub" sub setups you seen?

P.S:Try to answer all of the dynamat and enclosure questions if you can!!

Sorry for all the quesions please dont cuss me out :(

dont listen to the dynamat bull ive seen competitors who have lost db's after installing matt.

So since you said lay off the "Dynamat" that will really tear my car apart and break my windows would'nt it??

Nope, won't tear apart your car or windows. It takes a lot of trial and error, when doing SPL comp setups. I don't mean to be rude, but I suggest you start with something simplier. Just don't want you to spend all that money and be disappointed, when you don't automatically hit "156.8db-158.6db. It's pretty hard to just hit 150, I say start with a smaller system and build up your knowledge first.

dynamat doesn't automatically increase your loudness by 3 db. As dbjunior said, it can hurt scores. When dynamat marketing says you'll gain 3 db, it leaves out the important part, which is that it only makes your stereo SEEM 3 db's louder because it cuts the ambient noise down. So if the ambient noise (road noise, rattles, etc.) are 80 db as you are driving and your stereo is 130 db, you have a 50 db separation between the two. But if the dynamat lowers the ambient noise down to 77 db (3 db down), your stereo will likely stay at 130 db but you'll still have a difference of 53 db.

This isn't to say it CAN'T help your score. Just that you can't automatically assume an increase, and a decrease is possible.

Also, you cannot just add several dbs for having extra power and better subs. Loudness is not linear like that. Getting up to 156-158 db is actually pretty hard to do. But good luck.

Where are you going to fit three alternators on that engine?

Its all install dependent, once you have all of that in you will just have to get it metered.

Theres no telling what youll score.

You cant just have loud subs and big amps and expect to be up in the high 150's

I have badass subs, badass amps, and lots of power. Am i going to hit a 180 dB.? No. Do I wish I will? Yes of course.

This stuff takes time nd lots of patience to get right.

Its very hard to hit 180db. you would strictly have to have spl subs not daily drivers and lots of power watts subs etc. the more db you have the harder and harder it is to gain more. i just hope i at least hit 157db. just like people say its gets harder. but depending on setup 158db is possible.why woud you want 180db not to mention that 180db Can Kill!!!!

BTW:How much db is meade hitting with the 4 btls in the 01' tahoe??? anyone know??

isn't (3) 300A alts a lil overkill?

Yeah your right i might just settle for 2 of them or 2 200amp alternators. BTW i cant find any ho alternators for my car i looked on ebay and everything for h.o. iraggi alternators for my car and their only for the 90-99 models and mine is a 02' i have the gt pontiac grand am please help me!!!

I in no way said I would be anywhere close to 180 dB. I find it difficult for you to think I said I would.

Who can say they hit 180+ dB officially? Not very many.

Meade is "only" around 160, he is a low tuned daily driver. Not SPL.

i believe meade only does high 150's. not that thats not loud its way more than most people can handle. but he has more power and more equipment than you and you think you are gonna hit the same. personally i think if you hit 150 you would be happy. the only reason to worry about numbers is comps. the tuning of a box makes a huge diffrence in output and perceived output. if someone has a comp box tunined in the high 40's and burps a 140 at 50hz it wont be anything like a daily driver that does 140 at 30hz. the 30hz will shake more and move more air seeming louder but not acctually being louder.

Looks like a hell of a setup, but why the need for 3 alts?

Also id say lose the dynamat and go for some secondskin.

http://secondskinaudio.com/

Yeah three alternators is a little too much. I was thinking about either 2 300 amp alternators or 2 200 amp alternators. but i cant find any for my car :(

Good job.

Back to his thread. You do have big dreams, there is nothing wrong with that, just try to make them reasonable.

Thanks :) And BTW I asked a question kind of like this one on the "SteveMeadeDesgins" forum and the people on there told me..."With that tuning i'll touch a lil over 150db" & this one guy said "You're going to have the subs firing forwards and the port backwards into the trunk? -5dB there...." Is that true or they dont know what their talkin about??

Yes. 12-16 sq. in. of vent per cubic foot is recommended.
