ok, ok..

got this bad boy installed in the recommended .17ft^3. with the t/s parameters mike listed, this thing can mechanically handle 1600 wrms before exceeding xmax...thermally, well, that's a test for another day..lol.

anyway, i've got it wired for 2 ohm and running off the hifonics nx750d in my wife's car, so it's getting a rated 400wrms. and i'll say this, i think the 400 is just tickling this thing..lol. it, while moving, isn't being stressed at all. it's a cool lil sub.

musically, wow! from freak-a-leek to speaker box intro to pour some sugar on me..it just doesn't miss a beat! i do believe the box is a lil on the small side, but then again, it does a great job of getting low anyway and it does get loud! i can't wait to try it ported! but even in this lil sealed box it moves..

later, i will put a lil more power on it just to see how it does..

Nice Kent! Yea the 0.17 cu ft is the smallest recommended enclosure size I'd give, but it will make for a very nice non-peaky flat frequency response until it starts rolling off. Generally, anywhere between 0.17 - 0.5 cu ft sealed on these should be great.

Ported, I still haven't had a chance to figure exactly, but the suggestion you made earlier sounds decent so I say give it a go and let us know what you think!

it's 3/4" mdf. i used 1" as a table. the box is made from scraps.

tom, any suggestions as to what to play?

mike, so about .5-.75ft^3, 15in^2 of port..tuned to 38hz? going to be a big box for the port..lol.. btw..is the 8's displacement about .03ft^3? that's what i used to figure the net of the sealed one.

and 2kchevy, the grille is a fishman grille. they retail about $60 for the twelve, but the shop owed me a lil..hehe..

and again, off 400wrms, this sub is impressive. i do believe the box is holding it back some, so a new box will be built, hopefully this weekend.

but to be honest, for a small vehicle or confined spaces..this sub would be perfect. a pair of these off 750-800 wrms in the right vehicle would scare ppl for what they are. i do think this sub can compete with the w7, no question.

i've had 4 offers to buy it already, lol, and i've only got about 35 minutes of playing time on it..lol...

ok, i downloaded the track that tom suggested...Dimmu Borgir - Puritania...and the eight reproduced it very well. not quite as well as the rl-p, which rocks, but it did a great job nonetheless. i will do this again with a different box and see if that helps. that track is now going to be added to my play list everytime i test a sub..wow, the double kick drums are intense!

tomorrow, the funky pup goes boom in the trunk..lol..

anyway, eric, i have no clue as to IB. u'll have to email mike.
