Question about batteries needed

Recommended Posts

So I emailed xs and asked about what I needed as far as batteries go. Here is the actual email. I just wanted to know if this is all I really need? I want my voltage to stay up and dont want it dropping.

What would you recommend for my current installation? As it stands

right now I have a 260 amp alternator. I drive a lincoln aviator which

is the same as a ford explorer. The stock alternator was a 130 amp. I

do not know how much current draw it pulled but I am sure it is more

than the average car. I listen to my music loud 90% of the time.

As for my current installation goes I have 4 of the sundown saz1500s

going in which have fuse ratings of 150 amps and then I have a sundown

sax100.4 and a sax120.2 which have fuse ratings of 90 and 60. So that

is a total fuse rating of 750 amps. I am assuming that it would be

better for me to replace my stock front battery as well to prevent

voltage equalization of the different batteries.

Just let me know what you recommend and if you could give me a price

on it shipped to 06795.

Thanks,

Christopher Perugini

Here is the email from them:

Hi Chris,

We actually have a new model that will bolt directly in place of your

factory Group 65 battery. It is our D6500 model and it will be available on

November 20th. If you cannot wait until then, our D2700 model may fit if

you have some additional height clearance. If there is not enough height

available, you can go with our D3400 and it will fit just fine. These

batteries, along with your 260A alt will provide enough power to supply

about 3kW. To properly supplement your 7,500W system you will need to add a

secondary bank in the back. There are many options to choose from, and I

would select whatever best fits your installation. For example, you could

use 5 D680's, 3 D925's, 1 D3100... the selection is up to you. To get a

better feel for the wattage, refer to the attached brochure. Once you know

all the items you need, just let me know and we'll get you a shipped price.

Thanks!

If you want your voltage to stay above 14V during continuous full volume play, you will need to have enough alt power to supply the entire system. If you just want to minimize the amount of drop below 13V, then just add an extra battery just for good measure.

with that amount of draw I'd do a d2700 up front and a d3100 if not 2 in the back and you shouldn't have much to worry about

I run 7,800w in the back off 250A alt so i can be a good comparison to your needs.

I run 177aH just in the back of XS power and it isnt enough.

I personally need 3 D2400s or 2 D3100s and a larger starting battery at my preference.

I am going to run a single d3100 and the new starting bat they are coming out with and I will go from there.

Out of curiousity what does your electrical system consist of? 1 - 250A Alt, and what qty of batts? What about it isnt enough? I would be happy to help with recommendations on what could help meet your needs.

Thanks!
