extra battery

Recommended Posts

so i have no idea where to put this on the boards but i have a question about a second battery

i have a 2003 bmw 525i sedan and have found out i need a second battery before i blow another alternator

is it ok to put it near the sub box or will the vibration be bad for it?

i was thinking an optima yellow top battery

any suggestions?

Thanks

Patrick

you should be fine, but i would take a look at maybe a kinetik battery instead of a yellow top

Are you running a 16 volt system with that battery?

Kinetiks are great but what is your budget for another battery? Deka 9A31 is a great batt at a good price.

I think the batt would be ok next to the box. Its not the box vibrating anyway. The driver makes everything else around the box vibrate.

You need to get a 12volt battery, not a 16volt battery.

Nobody can tell you if you dont tell us more info (what do you need the battery for, what equipment is in the car, have you done the big 3 yet-that will help). Read new member rules before posting again so people can help you better and it will make this topic useful because right now its useless.

Usually you take half the rating of amps your amp has, and if Im correct it has 4 x 40A = 160A / 2 = 80A or better.

Kinetiks are great batts, but XS Power batts have just little more to them.

Have you replaced your under hood battery? have you done the Big 3?

And don't BMW's use HID's?

yes the battery has been recently replaced, and on BMWs they are in the trunk, just to let you know (not trying to be a smartass)

and i am working on the big 3

and yes most do, but we didnt get them with the car (they were $1200) i just added them aftermarket for $300
