2~15" Icon's Build

Recommended Posts

Earlier today we had the elimination rounds at Slamology 2011.

Had a solo run the first round b/c of a no show in lane 2.

It rained most of the day there.

I did however manage to squeeze out an improvement on last years score.

148.1 db @ 32hz, on 3500 rms of power to 2~15" Icon's!!!!

Gonna plan the next build with either some Xcons or Zcons!!! :morepower1:

Awesome score! Loved the way it sounded, I couldnt get enough.

If you had any problems with the subs cutting out on the way out Saturday before the rain...you can ask Sean about that. :roflmao:

Oh god, now he's gonna blow my subs like he did David's! :roflmao:

I actually turned the gain up during my last run and didn't even gain a tenth of a db.....

I now seem to have a weird voltage fluctuation now though.

Sometimes when I first power on the system it can't hold a steady voltage.

It wants to bounce around from 15.8 to 14.9 and eventually holds back at 14.9 volts.

This morning my battery warning light on the dash kept faintly lighting up when I hit my brakes for red lights.... :puzzled:

Ok I am totally pissed off right now!

This Mechman alternator is total garbage! :WTFBubble:

Voltage is all over the freakin place and I'm done trying to guess why.

Metered at the alt post and alt body my voltage is boucing all over from 8volts to 15.9volts

and won't hold for nothing and that's both at idle and at 2k rpm.

I'm about to toss this piece of junk in the trash!!!

No belt slippage, I put a new belt on last week.....

Tired of being accused of installation error on my part from Mechman.

Plain and simple, any moron with tools can install an alternator, it's not rocket science.

My stock alt. does just fine an actually holds normal voltage unless the stereo is loud.

Shizzzon metered the amperage at Slamology and it was only putting out in the 150's under full load

and at 2k rpm!!!

Simply put, I'm done with trying to convince Mechman that this thing is junk.

I'm tired of having my intelligence questioned when I contact them with problems.

DC alternators are my next choice for H/O alternators, period.

Now I just have to start saving some money to get one,

and think of what I can do with this 500 dollar paper weight that Mechman has sold me last year.

What a MAJOR disappointment. :suicide-santa:

I was actually going to try to hit more shows this year.

Not now with this electrical issue.

Fluck them then get 2-3 DC Alts & start sending them pics...

Hummm wonder if that alt will fit my bronco??

well.. the reason why the alt may have been putting out high 150s only might be because that's all the demand there was from it...

It's typical, nothing wrong with current side.

I still say either the regulator or that module they tied into it is screwed up.

What are the rebuild plans so far?

What ya gettin' Buddy?

Zcon time?

Well actually here's the idea so far,

Getting 4~15" or 18" Icons and running 7k to them.

Adding a couple new batteries.

Either getting another AQ3500 and strapping it to the one I have now or,

Selling it, and getting a different amp.

The amp decision would dictate the coil configuration so,

I guess I need to solve that issue once I decide exactly what sub I want to run next.

Kinda on the fence on this.

Either 2 ways about it, I wanna break 150 with some

"basement of hell lows"!

I love the sound of the Icons I have now and don't really have the $$$ or power to run Zcons.

So, I thought I'd put the new series of Icon up to the challenge.

The new enclosure will surely compliment the new Icons.

I just need to sell The R/F T1500-1bd I have now and make a choice

on the amp I want to use.

Should be fucking great no matter what you decide.
