Yeah but I can't put it in with this lame voltage.

My T1500-1bd already drops the voltage to 13.2 while driving.

O.k.

So the Mechman alt is now on it's way to Knoxville to get put on their dyno.

It should be there by wed. sometime.

I hope they don't leave it sitting around the shop for too long without taking a look at it.

IMO something has to be going wrong with it.

I've never had voltage issues with it since I put it in until about 3 months or so ago.

I had to put my stock alt in just to be able to drive to and from work.

Sad thing is that my stock alt reads 14.3v at idle and 14.4-14.5 at 2000rpm.....

After chatting with Shizzzon for a little while I wondered if I should've just made a bracket

for another alt and ran dual stock?!?!?!

Or, possibly adding a VCM?????

We'll see what Mechman comes up with as far as their findings on my alt.

Only cranking 14.0 on a H/O alt is bunk IMO.

Keep y'all posted as to what they say and my options might be. :fing34:

If they can't / don't fix it, I'd sell it on smd and order a dc power alt. Yes their CS is sometimes hard to come by, and you may have to wait a few weeks to the alt, but it's worth it.

(Just saying if worst comes to worst)

Just got off the phone with Mathew from Mechman.

My alt. seems to be running within range of 14.3 @ 2k rpm on their dyno.

He made a suggestion that if I need better voltage for competing I may want to

try one of these:

http://www.mechmanhighoutputalternators.com/shop/products/Ford-Adjustable-Voltage-Boost-Module.html

So, for chits and giggles, I'll test it out.

It's due to ship back to me tomorrow which should get to me in a couple days.

I hope everything plays out and I can get back on track with this rebuild in time for Slamology.

Keep your fingers crossed for me!! :fing34:

Still sounds like making a bracket and dual alts would be FTW :morepower1:

I could fab and weld one up.

Maybe sometime in the future if things don't pan out.

I like your enclosure design!

Thank ya much!

I debated with myself over several months building and rebuilding the enclosure.

This particular design is one I may stay with for a little while, adding c.f. and changing the tuning.

The "hood" on top makes a world of difference in sound deflected into the cab.

Without it, the cap flexes and the overall output seems to drop off big time.

Alright, looking for some help here.

I've been researching battery chargers on the net and I've been looking for so long

(a few months) my head is spinning!

Here's what I'm in the market for,

AGM charging of course,

at least 15 amp,

enough voltage to charge 12v batteries properly,

price around 100 bucks.

There are a ton of options out there but I'm having trouble picking one.

My main issue is not wanting to "pull the trigger" on something,

then months down the road wishing I'd bought something else.

Anyone out there have any advice on one they've picked up and loved?

(kinda looking for customer feedback)

So I go out to the shed to finish my enclosure this morning and had a visitor.

The 16 penny nail is where I hang my cord.

I about had a freakin' heart attack when I grabbed the cord off of the nail.

Before I roasted him with map gas this sucker had a 3" diameter with legs and all!!!

I hate spiders!!! :hyper:

Spent the whole 3 day weekend on this SOB!!!

Plan on installing it tomorrow after work.

I still have some gasket and window trim to put on it.

This damn thing is a tank!

4+ sheets of MDF, 10 yards of material, and 2 cans of spray glue.

Lancelot, thanks for the input on the charger!

P.S. no more SoundStream Spies either,

I kept waiting for the damn thing to transform and kick my ass!!!

When it fell on the floor and tried to run you could hear it hit the floor!

He was prob. displaced after I got rid of the wood pile behind my shed, now he's extra crispy!flamethrower.gif

:soapbox:

I am absolutely livid with Mechman's so called "customer service" right now.

I was told by Mathew my alt would ship back to me last tuesday.

Here it is a week later and still no F'n alternator!

I called yesterday and was told he would return my call, (never happened).

So, I called this morning and was told "oh I have it right here. apparently there was some confusion

with the show we attended this weekend and it didn't get shipped. I will make sure it ships today."

I told him to e-mail me the tracking number so I can track the shipment.

They said "It automatically sends a shipment notification when we create the label."

After getting home from work today I check my e-mail.......still nothing!

So, I make yet my 5th phone call to Mechman and get their answering service.

I leave a message explaining who I am and why I'm calling also that I have NOT received my tracking info

and asked if this actually shipped out.

I also included my phone number and requested a return call to confirm that it shipped out.

No return call was ever made back to me regarding this issue.

*edit*

just received tracking notification

late, but never the less I guess it's on it way.

Thanks again for the compliment man.

I hope this puts up better numbers than last year.

Side note- it's nearly impossible to get spray glue or paint to stick in heavy humidity! :trippy:

Not impossible it just takes more time. Spray single pass thin coats and allow to dry between coats. If you have access to a heat lamp then that will speed the drying time.

Your design is kinda like a hatchback crx style in a truck lol I dig it :)

I got everything in and running.

After a few tweaks on the alternator voltage module my issues seem to be gone.

Upon the initial start the dang thing was spitting out 15.6 volts!

Had to dial it down a bit to 14.7 volts.

The sound is on par as far as the last enclosure.

I'll have to wait till the drive home from work tomorrow to see what it'll do.

I also still have a few tweaks on the EQ and dial in the gains a little better to feel comfortable.

As far as the AQ3500 @ 1 ohm on these Icons........HOLY SH*T!!!! :morepower1:

They haven't got hot yet just playing in the driveway at short bursts.

I have my fingers crossed on the way home tomorrow hoping all is well.

Wish me luck!!! :fing34:
