I have 5 Mbps Cable (5 Mbps = 640 KB/s). I've been thinking about upgrading to 7 Mbps for $10/month more (7 Mbps = 896 KB/s).

Why can't I edit my original post ? Blah ...

I have Verizon Fiber Optic Private Line internet. It is 15Mbps. I havent ever timed it so I really dont know how fast it is. It is $59.99 a month. We use it cause there are 2 businesses run out of out house. We were told that there is an upgrade for 155mbps but that is crazy fast and expensive.

What do you need help with? do you have a news service? gotta have one of them to start with. Do a search on usenet carriers, pick one up (usally about $7.00-10.00 a month), and we can take you from there. :wackit::mrspam::pornsmilie::fatchicks:

Some ISPs have their own servers which come unadvertised with your internet service ... You have to phone them to get the following information ...

Server IP Address(es)

User Name & Password

Retention Rate

Download Limit

Then you also need a program to download files off newsgroup servers (I can give you NewsBin Pro)

If your ISP doesn't have a server, you will have to buy one to use them. They're not expensive and well worth it, IMO. Very easy to use your connection to its full potential.

Woooo I like my isp.

6801 / 944

Your download speed : 6964345 bps, or 6801 kbps.

A 850.1 KB/sec transfer rate.

Your upload speed : 967351 bps, or 944 kbps.

To answer the thread question, I guess I can say 850.1

Just because your connection is CAPABLE of that speed, it doesn't mean you'll actually download at that speed ...

I'm asking what your typical download rate is when you're actually downloading something, not on a speed test ...

The number in the AIM get file thing were it says "transfer rate" ?

Between 37-42 KB/sec for some people, others upwards of 127 KB/sec. Seems pretty piss poor to me. Around 45 minutes for 105, 000 KB
