BTL-N2 pics

Recommended Posts

This is the standard replacement for the Gen1 and Gen2 BTLs. It has similar power handling and options. The heatsink/inductance ring which was an option on the Gen2 is now integral to the design. We spent quite a bit of time testing the sinking and cooling to ensure that the Neo magnets used would not suffer degradation due to heatsoak (a problem which plagues other designs). Form followed function with the motor and is why these new versions are a fairly radical departure from the last designs.

Weight loss is significant compared to the 11.25" diameter magnets used in the Gen2 motors.

More info to come both on the site and here. We are trying to get pics for the N1 and N2 drivers up on the site over the weekend to start selling on Monday morning. There will be an initial approx 4 week lead time for the N1 and N2 subs due to some raw materials not arriving for another 3 weeks. But if these sell even remotely close to the Gen2 BTLs we expect a healthy list of early adopters.

So this is the BTL I should go for if I want a BTL for daily pounding, and all types of music right?

Btw, it looks sexy, weird but SEXY!

Smart, I don't see heatsoak being a problem at all :)

Cooling galore!

Wow. That is different for sure! If someone could take a minute to clear up for those (including myself) waiting for the N3 to make a decision, is the N3 usable for music or really just SPL? I'm going with you guys either way, I just don't want to purchase the N2 and kick myself for not waiting a bit, or wait and find out I could have been sporting the new gear all along.

Regardless I'm liking it :drink40:

From what I remember from the other thread, the N3 is SPL and N-SG is Extreme SPL.

But like you, I want official response from Nick or Scott to make sure my info is correct.

Right, I read that the N3 was more for SPL, but the last sub I owned was 'pure spl' and I really liked it for daily. If there's no mechanical reason like the tight gap on the SPL version of the Gen2 BTL then even if it doesn't sound super good it should have more motor strength. I guess I'm fishing for answer a bit before the new product is released and that isn't the policy, but I can try :fing34:

Honestly I think the N3 would have wayyyyyy too much motor strength to sound reasonable on music.

It'd likely peak like a prom date. :)

that is a good amount of neo. are you charging that in house?

if so how much n50 grade neo you could charge at one time?

i have some motors i am trying to build, and i am trying to find someone who can charge them fully assembled.

i checked with thilo and he said he has successfully charged about half the amount i am trying to use in one motor.

I 2nd that y warden sounds great daily for me and I normally ride around with IDmax's in my car. Waiting to see prices and what the N3 is like. You know it's funny I only happened upon this because some local guy was listing a 15" BTL for 550 on craigslist and I went to the FI website to check the price because I swear when I priced an 18" btl fully loaded it was under 500.. Just when I was going to get a DC neo or XL you guys finally release this... I'll wait to see the results as I love my X's and the ssds I talked my friend into getting lol

It looks like it would be freakin heavy though just because of the size rofl.

Im thinking with the cooling factor and the motor force behind these it should be great! And very repeatable with the great cooling Nick and Scott have put into these Neos!!!

When i get some of these in my hands.... my head will go :dancing::faintthud::finger::woot::pornsmilie:
