A Suburban A Warhorse and a pair of Double Dees

Recommended Posts

So, most of the parts are in. There's some fabricating that still needs to be figured out, but what the heck. Let's get the show started. Here is a pic of the ride:

2004 Suburban Work Truck Edition. It's white and has a rubber mat instead of carpeting on the floor. The interior, vinyl. 5.3 V8 and it's 4WD.

The main source is a Alpine IVA-NAV-1 with a pair of Concept headrest monitors for the rear passengers. No pics yet :(

Here is the front stage:

Bingo!

I'll be doing a semi-active 3-way front stage off a Crescendo 1000c4. Two 6.5s per door behind the factory grills. :)

Here are a few pics of how I got the components into the q-logic panels.

I didn't have a 4"+ hole saw, so I improvised. I used a smaller saw to cut out the center. I sketched out the profile of the hole I needed to cut, then I scored the plastic with a blade. I used to some pliers to break off the scored pieces of plastic leaving me with a semi-nice large diameter hole.

I decided to make a backing ring to secure the mid to the panel. Here is the ring I cut at work using a CNC plasma cutter. :)

I am using rivnut style inserts to mount the driver.

Here is the installed product.

More on the way.
