thanks everyone and i did editing on a few of the lightning pictures, just auto tone and contrast in cs4, the rest of my truck and random objects, they have no editing at all.

amazing photos, is this your first SLR?? The shots of the dog seem a little off with white balance but insanely sharp... I'm thinking of picking up a second-hand Sony Alpha possibly...

thanks and yeah, my first dslr. couple of the photos were shot in auto, and a majority of them were in manual, once i understood how to compensate exposure, aperture and shutter speed.

I got this camera, because my point and shoot i have had for a few years, the screen had broke when i was on vacation one summer and its pretty much useless to take accurate photo's with it anymore.

Yea, I've done alot of night time shooting with some prime and zoom lenses... Luckily for me I can try a few different lenses from time to time... But I need a good everyday lens.. I've been looking at this:

it's a 16-105mm lens so it can cover decent range for the most part... But I def want a nice prime lens as well but everyone is telling me not to waste my money....

Looking over them again, I can definitely see how the pictures were "better" in the second set of ones you uploaded. Better contrast, better shot choices, just all around better in my opinion. :)

I still rock Film SLR's. Might pick up a DSLR one day....

lol, a one time occurrence. it was supposed to snow, but instead we got ice.

that would be a awesome range for all around everyday lens. I've been using the kit 28-135mm lens on the 7d more so than the 18-55mm and the 50mm. but the 50mm is just so crisp and clear!

Thank you sir, I've been slightly improving, but i'm still no amateur or anything, just more of a hobby right now. I'm hoping to go to another coffee and cars this weekend and get a lot of shot's if it isn't 110 degrees outside!

what film slr's are you using?

I sold all of them except for my Canon EOS Rebel XSN. I was realllllllly into photography in highschool and started taking pictures as a side job (family portraits, senior pictures, wedding pictures, stuff like that). I had so many i can't even remember... a couple nikon's and my Canon. Like all enthusiasts i had a Minolta. Besides the Rebel, i never had a camera for much longer than a couple months. But as soon as i got out of highschool, i lost access to darkrooms. In my opinion, developing is half the art and half the fun. Photoshop is fun and all.. but darkroom "photoshopping" is just what I'm used to doing and I think it's much more interesting. So for now, i don't take many "artistic" photos. Mostly photos to document places, events, and people.

The hobby faded out for me :/ Plus, with digital cameras so prevalent, everybody out there can take crystal perfect shots. They don't need to worry about the speed of the film even. I'm just so horribly biased towards film cause It's what i grew up on.

Photography is just like anything else in the world; the more you do it the better you'll get. Go out and take shots. Lots and lots of shots. You don't even have much of an excuse if you're digital :P

old school FTW

i really wish i could see what all is involved in processing film. i read a lot about it in a couple of photgraphy books, but it always ends up saying, since everything is digital now, just go take all the pictures you want! film costs $$$, where as digital is free.
