spl vs daily driver

Recommended Posts

Depends on the sub and how it's made. Take Fi for example: There is a daily or SPL option. The SPL option has a much smaller gap. Playing music on the SPL option may cause coil rub, which will eventually ruin the speaker. They are made for playing single tones for short bursts. Some speakers that are SPL oriented also follow this rule of thumb. It all depends on how they are manufactured. If you are curious about a single speaker, then do some research on it or post up a question. Hope this helps! :)

Too broad of a question and how the company and individual defines what is "spl rated".

For some drivers it's not a good idea. On others it would be fine. Others still may not suffer from the potential for physical damage, but simply not reproduce music very well.

It just depends on the specific driver.
