Hey all, I purchased a Sundown Audio Nightshade V1 12 yesterday, and I can only say one word: Wow... I have it hooked to a Rockford Fosgate P8004 amp currently because that's all I could find on the fly, and it 'tickles' the driver. I'm incredibly impressed by the sub, and being that I only paid 150 for it, in good aesthetic condition, and perfect functioning condition, I couldn't be happier. I need an amp to actually push it, but right now I'm trying to test fit the setup in my Daily driver and see how it performs in it, before it goes in my show car. I'll post pictures if anyone is interested in seeing what a 2nd Gen Escort has potential to look like. The box (2.2Cu Ft) is perfect for the sub, and in due time, I'll get around to building a floor bracing for the sub and box because it's a bit front-heavy due to the inverted mounting.

The amp will eventually be upgraded to the 2kW Sundown, as well as adding a battery, cap, and the entire kit and kaboodle. Just wanted to introduce myself, and brag a bit on the older Sundown Nightshades. Howdy!

Those wheels are long gone, and it sat for about 6 months without the 18's, and with the entire interior pretty much stripped down to bare nothing. Found a set of Enkei RSF-2's without tires for 100 bucks, so I got them to go on it. I have in the works: SA Nightshade will PROBABLY go in the Deathscort, if not, I'll throw my True Bass Solutions 8" in it, with a modest 300W setup since my wife will primarily driving it unless we take it to shows after it gets painted.

Enkei RSF-2's and the nightshade -

Wow, holy amazing responses! @ Cablguy1 I live up in Corinth, about 45 minutes north of Tupelo. Unfortunately... There is very few and far in between as far as car audio selection. It's either Memphis or nothing around here. I had a set of Cadence CVLW's I was really fond of for street gear. I'm so impressed with the Nightshade I will probably wind up getting the V2's, they are 2kRMS correct? Is there a recommended amp to push it properly? The guy I got it from had a Sundown 2000.1 (I think, correct me if I'm wrong) 2k 1ch.

I have family in Jackson, some I've never met (Grandparents) So that sounds like an awesome idea! I need to get my 'showcar' (umm lolz) < Sorry, had to... It slipped, I swear! Anyways... I need to get the showcar running and get a setup in it, Might put 4 SA12's in it, just to support the Sundown guys, and try to make an event. I've never competed before, so I have no idea, but a guy I work with used to be a dealer for Sundown in MS (Corinth in case you guys read this... I need to contact you Sundown guys asap) and he is trying to educate me on the ins and outs of car audio. Beyond the shadetree stuff that kids do in their spare time.

All I really need as of right now is a proper box, and I've been researching A LOT on the12volt.com, and I've learned a lot of useful information.

I had a question, and it may be laughed at, but go ahead and get a chuckle on this: Is there a way to enjoy car audio without breaking the bank? A way to make a successful living from it? I've wanted to do something of the like for a while and never really had a lot of people to talk to since the town I live in is rather dull, and there is nothing here. There is one audio shop, and they deal mostly, if not all, in Memphis' line of audio, and not even the good stuff. I'll have to look up the regs on what it would take to get my own shop started, but are there any pointers you vets can offer? I'm a sponge right now, and I don't want to be mounting and balancing tires for Walmart for the rest of my life. :( I want to do something where I can meet new and interesting people, do something I enjoy, and make money doing so. Thanks in advance!

@ Steveo50 - There sure are a couple MS people here! I hate this town, it's such a culture shock from Fayette'nam NC. I was born and raised primarily here, but on a coolness scale, this town gets a -2.

@ Watts09 - I lol'd at your avatar picture. That's awesome. At any rate, thanks! It'll look better when I get done. The wife is a SQ nut, and I'm all about SPL. So the car will be outfitted with a TrueBass Solutions 8" sub, 300W Mono, and whatever components I can find that will sound equally as clean and crisp. These cars have a LOT of interior plastics, and I can't give away the true secret to the box I'm building for it, but it's going to be show quality for the stuff I've seen in these parts. No screens... yet... But I have (in my mind) a plan for an integrated sub box, amp containment unit, and tool storage (for whatever my heart desires) and the amp and tool storage will be stealth-stored. Won't know it's there unless you built it, helped build it, or I show you :). If I don't go the TB route (Can get the sub and amp for 110.00...) I'll DEFINITELY go Sundown, which may be the way to go since they make an 8" driver as well.

Again, thanks for all the warm welcomes, and I plan to lurk around a bit and learn as much as I can. With that said, if you don't hear much from me, I'm busy being the sponge that I am.

Thanks y'all! I'm trying to build a better box, and get a better amp to push the sub. What programs do you guys recommend for CAD so that I can build a suitable box for my car? I can't explain it... I'd have to draw it.

I use Google Sketchup. There's a free version that works enough for what most people need. Just takes a while to get used to.

Probably not, My Scort needs a LOT of work. Going to make a full custom interior, gotta reattach the exhaust, tack it up, adjust my camber for the 18's, and get my built in box BUILT :D. It'll take me a LOT of time to build it, but I have a friend who works with high quality MDF, and they discard sheets (15'x30') because of a blemish on the corner, or various other imperfections. I may have to sift through a few sheets to find a few good ones, but it's free :D. Free is the best price of all!
