1999 Tahoe SAE1200 on 2 12" Fi Q's

Recommended Posts

So... my buddy finally got his cash together in order to do his audio build.

Its a 1999 Chevy Tahoe.

The build will consist of the following:

-Kenwood HD545u (my old HU. Already installed)

-Blue Stinger volt meter (already installed. Need to wire up.)

-Stinger 1/0 wire. Got about 25tft total for $50. :D

-Sundown SAE-1200 (sold this to him on the cheap.)

-2 12" Fi Q D1's. (These were my other buddies. He gave one to me as partial trade when I sold him my xcon and saz1500. And he gave the other to my buddy that owns the this Tahoe. I sold him mine for $50. Lol. They are both at the Fi factory getting reconed from D2s to D1s. But UPS broke one of the Damn magnets so now theres a claim filed...waiting patiently....)

-a set of alpine coax and a set of pioneer coax speakers. (Already had them...so we will use them. Lol.)

We will do the Big3 with some leftover welding cable I have laying around. Eventually put a d3400 upfront...and we should be fine for a sae1200.

On to the picssssss

firs pic, has anyone ever ran wires thru this body style tahoe? I can't figure out how to remove this little plastic piece... any help on that is appreciated.

-RCA

-REM

-and wires from the volt meter to run to the amp.

I love those older tahoes!

Me too bro. He's 17. And his parents bought it brand new. He wishes they got a z71... but o well. And they also have a 03 Silverado extended cab. And a 09 Impala SS. Only buy new. Can you tell they are a chevy family? Lol

After this build, he will be doing Flowmaster race40series exhaust. Gonna be sick.

Acctualy, we were gonna sell do either 15s or 18s. But that was more $$. Lol. This really is a budget build.

Next build, we are doing (4) 12s or 15s SSA icons. :D

You are correct sir. We go big or go home the first system. Haha.

My first was a xcon on a saz1500. No bad for first systems.

Hmm... ok I will have to take a look later today. It seems as if part of the plastic has rivits going thru it...

usually, the plastic circles on the bottom are beauty pieces that cover the actual bolt. it should be 2 bolts holding the 2 pieces together and then a T-50 bolt holding the seat belt to a mounting point on the truck.

i've taken apart 3 cars so far this week. T-50 seems to be a favorite bolt size for seat belts

SO! i ran the wires in the Hoe today. and hooked it up to a tiny kenwood 12 just to make sure everything was good. well... the power light on the amp is always on if i leave the REM wire in. and when i hook up the power and ground wired up from the stinger meter, it would stay on as well. so i unhooked the REM for now so that neither the amp or meter is constantly on. what should i check first? his subs will be here tomorrow. pics after work tonight. :)

edit:

also, when the gain knob is hooked up, it cuts the sub off and when i turn the knob, it makes the sub jump... really wierd. i tried 3 knobs with no luck. anyone had that happen before?

the remote turn on is constant power? are you sure you tapped into the right wire behind the HU? i've done it before so its possible lol.

bass know cuts out the bass? could there be a break in the line somewhere where it is grounding? i don't use bass knobs so i couldn't tell you really.

Make sure you hooked it up to the correct remote start wire, dont use the one you are using cause obviously it is a constant power source.

Ok... so i checked the diagrams, and im a dumbass. Lol. I have the rem going to the amp from the HU via the yellow wire(12+constant) so tomorrow i will fix the issue. I hate dumb mistakes. O well...live and learn. Pics of amp, box, and sub (only one came so far) tomorro. Sexy custom black Fi dustcaps. :)
