Ive heard subs up and port to the rear depending if you have enough room between port and back hatch, or port and subs up.

oops, sorry, I am out of it this morning. I have seen setups I like with sub up/port up, sub up/port back and sub forward/port up.

subs forward was used for competing where the rear seat was folded down, not firing directly into the rear seat.

Would be able to give a better recommendation with the size of box you're building and the size available in the vehicle. IIRC you need to measure the width of the port and make sure you have that much room between the port and the rear gate.

Sub up port to passenger side was my best score.

For the most output: subs up/port back would be the best.

Could list the different positions that you tried with a little description about the differences? I think it may help others with the same question.

Hours of testing in multiple vehicles. This doesn't mean that there aren't exceptions. Generic question got my generic answer. He will have to figure out what works best for him. The "best" could mean more bass or better sound quality. Who knows.

My subs and port are both to the rear?

Most competitors in SUVs see best results with the subs up, and port to the rear. Sometimes the port very close to the hatch gains, sometimes port far away gains, but for the most part, this orientation is the best for overall output.

Reelbigfish92 on here has his n2 18in sub up port back. I would have to guess only inches away from the hatch. It definitely has some output :fing34:

As far as I know though that is the only way he has tried

Sub up, port back 5" away from back door

Prove how its better, then you can use that blanket statement.

I would try it but both point toward rear hatch.
