Regina's 03" Durango

Recommended Posts

I am going to start a new build log of her Durango, so that the first part of it is just the pics up to now.

this is not for comps, just a daily driver for her to run around in.

she enters the shows from time to time as well as a ton of demos....

it is a 2003 Dodge Durango 4X4

runs the teens around everywhere as well as the grandbabies,

needless to say, we should have every right to full sponsorship from McDonalds!

her current set-up consist of:

-electrical ... 0 gauge, American Bass, (AB fuse holders also)

-head unit ... 7" flip-out from planet audio ....( loaner, long story, to be replaced)

-front stage ... front doors, factory locations, 2 X American Bass SQ 6.5's, 2 X 1" American Bass soft dome tweets in 'A' pillars (factory location)

-rear stage ... rear doors, factory locations, 2 X American Bass SQ 6.5's

-mids and highs amp ... Sundown Audio SAX 100.4

-subwoofers ... 2 x American Bass XL 8"s

-enclosure ... "ABC" style enclosure

-subwoofer amp ... Sundown Audio SAX 1200D

-sound deadening ... some matt and some foam, (lightly done)

-video ... 7" up front and rear

*bass race 129.9 class

*spl = 140.1 @ 48 hz.

___________________________________________________________

new build will consist of.....

-new head unit

-second battery

-big 3 upgrade

-subwoofer amp ... AQ2200

-subwoofers ... 4 X Sundown SA-8"s

-enclosure ... shooting for a 4th order, (with veiwing window)

-sound deadening ... replaceing current matting with sds tiles, (per stevemead orders!)(ty!)

okay, pics ........

you know what......they are too cool imo....i am sure i could easily push them too far, but thats not our goal, never-the-less, seeing them hold on to those lows with that much headroom is impressive.... all four windows down and they can still flex the roof, flex enough to surf a cell phone across there!

the new 8"s are here...my text from Regina was "those heavy ass subs came today"! lol, too awesome....

i was thinking 4th order but might flip to just ported for now and do 4th after additional study time...

it seems the Q suggest this to be a little tricky, big ol motors could get mean, plus i got extra power coming at them any how.

we have nice cabin gain around mid 30's and again in the low 50's.....

still trying to understand it well enough to want to build and try it...

if cutlass build was not going on, perhaps that would be less of a caution....

one can not have too much mdf laying around,

unless ones wife finds out how much one paid for it all,

then one might be in deep doo-doo!

6 cubes? damn

yes, but keep in mind i was referring to just the space the enclosure is going to take up.

like outside dimensions type of approach...

lol

oops, actually, 7.1 cubes out side dimensions!

but still thats a big ol box for some 8" subs!

Any new ideas or movement on mama chop's build bro? I've found a few more respectable builders of flared ports.

Could be a nice christmas grift for mama ;)

okay, i deleted some trash that was on here overly hyping up a product and builder that was noy worthy, for all general terms, if it was not for my persistance, not sure what would it would of been called, but theft or scam.......fail

in the end, we recooped or cash, that is the end of that story.....

so onto a ported box, test, play and see where we want to go from there.....most likely, ssa subs and a rebuild!!!!

the wood is here, LONG story behing that.....

should have build pics for tomorrow.

and perhaps installed by sunday for breakend of subs to begin.
