I know I have a car audio addiction when......

Recommended Posts

little fun wonderings about YOUR car audio addiction, try to keep your thoughts to one post if possible, but I want to get as many people to post in on this, kinda like you must be a redneck if...

....I buy AXE spray and the sents are Phoenix and Orion...

....I have the compulsion to buy a driver just because it has been a while since the last one...

...I detest riding in other peoples cars because of their stock stereo...

you get the idea

...I'm hell bent on making a regular cab truck an SQ vehicle.

...$300 a comp set? Pshhh...Try $300 for mids alone.

...I tear my entire truck apart to take mesurments, and re-assemble it same day for work the next morning.

you have 10 12 inch drivers that retail for more than $500 each sittin in your room.... and you say "i just cleaned up"

You have 1/0 wire layin around in your floor from old projects

you sell a crx just to buy a new one a week later

you have more than one stereo competition vehicle

you paid 5 grand extra for the JBL stock system so you could have good SQ with a stock system

Your girlfriend knows how to wire an amp... correctly

your girl friend says when we gonna build a box for my car

warrentee is a bad word

your college money goes to buy your comp car

you spend a 6 hours in a car in the middle of sc with no ac to drive to a show just to drive back the next day

blowing up subs is fun

thats all i can think of for now... but those are all just about me

drive 6 hours to test new amps for your car

16 runs of 0g still isn't enough

You have $600 in batteries, but only own two

your 4 seat car is now only a 2 seater

Oh boy.

The most obvious. . .

When the highlight of your day is to get on your favorite message board and tear some shit up with the rest of the homies!

FO LIFE!

I could do this for home as well as the car :)

Your speakers have more area than your TV screen does

$250/watt? Pfft.

Your amplifiers need more power than a hair dryer, but put out less power than a lightbulb.

I know I have a car audio addiction when......

.......I have driven my car for weeks on end, with the only pieces of interior still in the vehicle being the steering wheel and the driver's seat.

.......my closet can not be used for it's intended purpose because my various collection of stereo equipment consumes all of the space

.......I have gone through 5 completely different setups, yet none of them have actually made their way into my car.

.......the UPS guy could drive to my house blindfolded

.......I go through more MDF than underwear

.......the wifey only knows about 1/4 of my car audio purchases, and even then she is misinformed about the price of the ones she does know about :D

.......I can wake the neighbor two houses away in their upstairs bedroom......with my highs

...I have 3 12" subs and no enclosures for any of them

....My first subs are sitting on a shelf in my garage

...No equipment is useless, everything has a purpose.

.....I have a whole tool box devoted to car audio stuff.

....My tool chest has more car audio stuff in it than tools.

....You have spare MDF on the side of your house incase you need to make an enclosure.

...I have a 3" turbo-back exhaust and I want an SQ system.

...I have a performance-oriented car, yet I'm installing a full-blown stereo system in it...regardless of weight.

...I toss and turn in bed thinking of possible front stage choices.

...I become unhappy at a concert or movie because I'm not seated in the center of the stage/screen (skewed staging).

...I spend hours upon hours looking at and researching DIY drivers for my next front stage...and then going in a completely different direction and spending hours upon hours researching again...all in the same night.

When you pawn/sell spare equptment for new audio equiptment.

You drive less to buy more.

You eat out less to buy more.

You pawn/sell spare equiptment to make next months payment on w/e.

You refuse to step foot into a local audio shop

You know the difference between Class A, B, A/B, and D amplifiers and know why there is no such thing as true B-Class amplifiers for most audio reproduction.

You measure Impeadance Curve just because

You build enclosures just because you have an old driver you want to play with.

You Buy MDF just incase.

You have a stash of wood screws just incase.

You have enough 1/4 full bottles of wood glue lying around to make 10 full bottles.

You have Glue/Chaulk/Bondo/Paint/Primer/Stain somewhere on your hands almost 365 days a year.

You use that as an excuse to not shake hands with people you dont like.

You sit around making this up because you dont have an audio project to be working on at the moment.

Your installs for your buddies are reguarded as higher quality than the installs of the local car audio shop by multiple people, almost a whole high school infact... and you are only 16 and have no formal training what-so-ever.

....when you have more amps then drivers.. just to see which one you like best

....when you tell your friends "forget bestbuy subs.. I've got something WAAAY better under my bed".

....when you order wire.. you specify how many spools.. not how many feet.

....You're out of bandaids from multiple cuts... so you use duct tape and paper towels.

Been there done that

Just filling the cut in with pine sap and then putting some sand on it makes for an instant scab too. :fing34:

...I get pissed off at people for calling me ONLY while I'm driving, simply because I'm trying to listen to my stereo.

...I go out to my car for my 15 minute breaks, even though the wind chill is below zero.
