Sundown or zcon's.

Recommended Posts

Pick the one that fits your budget the best.

4.75ft^3 will be on the large side for 1 Sundown Zv.3 15" on that amplifier. But if you keep the gains and volume knob in check you will be ok.

Either way you won't be dissapointed in either sub woofer as they are both hand built in the USA and come from 2 great companies!

The z3 is built in the USA? Not China?

Z v.3 is China

NS is U.S

Zcon U.S

There is a difference between assembled in America and built in America.

From what i understand z3's are still being hand built as of right now. I know jake mentioned recently about having them built by the same plant the sa's are but i don't think that's happened yet or will soon.

Honestly the closest American made subs i know of are Fi but they all used imported parts in assembly. I know Fi has made a large effort in maintaining American supplied hard parts. Thus there increase in pricing recently.

From talking to Nick at Fi, the only overseas item in their drivers is the leads. that just because there is no company in the us that can make a quality one.

Ummm not quite! Amps are still made in Korea just a different buildhouse in Korea. SAE lineup will come from China.

All coils for the Zv.3 and NS v.3 series come from Precision Econwind from the USA.

May want to get all your facts straight before claiming everything comes from China!

Eventually they will be made in the same buildhouse as the SA series. Due to demand Sundown will move Zv.3 production to China. But will supply the buildhouse with USA Made voice coils.

Ferrite slugs come from China as well. EPA has pretty much made it impossible to make ferrite slugs in the USA.

So back to my original post! Lol. How do I measure port area on a trapezoid port?

Simple math.

A=((b1 + b2) x h) / 2

Where,

a=area

b1=base one

b2=base two

h=height

This lol. I found it ironic that these two threads would pop up in the same day.

Why are these two subs being compared? He's only going to run a 2500 on two subs. Buy xcon's, or icon's if you are going to buy ssa. Why bother with the zcon? Or maybe a pair of bl's or q's from fi.

Because the Zcons are the most efficient subs that SSA has, which means they'll be louder than Icons or Xcons on 1250 each.

Oh and the op said that's what he was choosing from?

the misinformation in this thread is mind blowing....

Just because the zcon shows a higher sensitivity rating, doesn't mean it will be louder, and I don't the OP has listed his goals.

For that amount of power I could safely recommend SA12s. I ran mine on two 3ks for a short period of time before one popped(3ks). They are now being beat on daily by a single 3k.

As long as you set your subsonic right, you'll be fine. So SA12s are my vote smile.png
