Recommended Posts

hey, i have 2 12" sundown SA'12's soon to be 4 or 6 in total. they are all dual 2 ohm subs, i wanted to know if any 1 has any suggestions for a amp that will give at least 2000-2500 RMS @ .5 ohms or 2 ohms and no more than $400 plus shipping. let me know if you have something your selling under these terms and or let me know if you know any amps that are able of doing the job for my system. thanksadhd.gif

how about 2 APSM-1300s?

Wire each sub to it's own amp at 1ohm.

Can be had for WELL UNDER $300 shipped.

if you are going to be adding more for sure, find out what quantity, then just buy one big amp.. 2kw on 4-6 is baby power, :)

i know it is baby power, but i have to still be considerate cause of where i live at, and uhh you cant wire a dual 2 ohm sub to 1 ohm only .5 and 2 ohms. dual 4 ohm subs are able to do 1ohm to 4 ohm. and i only want to use 1 amp to power my subs and 1 for my highs/mids no need for 3 and 4 amps its not needed. i need a amp strong enough at either 2 ohms "preferred" or .5ohms

You sir are wrong.

A dual 2 ohm sub can be wired to 1ohm or 4ohm

TWO dual 2 ohm subs can be wired to 0.5 ohm, 2ohm or 8ohm.

It is rather imperative that you choose right now how many drivers you plan on using so the amp choices are narrowed down now rather than keeping your amp options drastically open.

I 1% agree with this

I made a typo i just fixed...

2 dual 2 ohm subs are wired to 0.5ohm, 2ohm or 8ohm.

I originally said 4ohm.. i was thinking single sub for some reason when i types the series result for dual drivers.

i use a mmats 3000.5 for my 2 10" ssa xcons. mmats will do true rms at 13.8 volts, they make a 2000.5, but not for the price you are looking for, most lower quality amps cant do .5ohms so may i suggest saving a bit more and buy something that will be true rms and last you!

DO NOT use the forum to solicit sales. There is ZERO tolerance for such behavior.

A used Sundown Saz-1500d will put out around 2000 watts @ .5 ohms.

Hey guys what's up...so I'm new to all this car audio forum stuff and am trying to fumble f__k my way through this post....so here it is...I am old school and have all old school shit....I'm looking at powering this beast of a system.....I have all of this in an 04 toyota tundra access cab limited.....basically I have around 20k of power needs....I'm running 2 DVC 10's by cerwin vega...2 DVC 12's by cerwin vega...3 different cerwin 6.5 component systems...head unit is 10.6 inch touchscreen with every bell and whistle imaginable....for power I'm old school also with a lanzar 8k velocity amp..(2 channel) for the 10's...a lanzar 2.5k velocity amp...(4 channel) for components.....a power acoustic 10k amp for my 12's.....I have a stinger 10 Farad cap.....now my problem is how to power all this equip.....I'm looking into the deka farm batteries....there was another who posted about this same dilemma....I ask....what about rv batteries....and can I put 24 volt batteries in the bed and step them down to 12 volt....and have less batteries....I don't want to go into debt for the rest of my life trying to power this system....I have pics of all this build that I will upload as soon as I figure out how...and I think yall will get a kick and some amazement out of my enclosure fabrication...I also have fiber optic lighting inside...lighted wheel rings and underglow outside....it's a lot of juice I need and I don't want 20 batteries...what's my best solution

Question about the use of amps crossovers and sound processors. Is it best to go all active not at all or combine?? Are amp filters as good as sound processors?
When you buy a component speaker system you are paying for a crossover too. More expensive units have better crossovers. It’s been suggested that these crossovers use up power so not using them and using HPF and LPF on your amps is the better way to go. An alternative method is using a digital active crossover that can be programmed.
Different methods are also to influence phase shifts that can create cancellation  or have better frequency curves.
The cons would be a dedicated amp just for tweeters and one for mids and one for subs so instead of a 4 channel amp driving 4 pairs it would drive the mids on two channels and two channels for the tweeters then not using the expensive crossover that came with the speakers.
I’m running everything thru an Audio Control DQX with sub filter crossover point and EQ that is separating the signal at 90hz which I can adjust. Then thru a programmable crossovers The component and coax speakers are all actively crossed between subs and mids but I am using factory crossovers still. I’m assuming they are only helping tweeters but guessing they may have a filter for the mid too?
Do you think I am negating phase advantage by leaving factory filters in? Is the phase pollution not disruptive in high frequency so phasing mids and Subs is sufficient?
I’m bi amping a pair of JBL competition speakers that has a jumper to remove in the crossover when doing this I am also using amp HPF and running other tweeters off all 4 channels. The JBL owner manual goes into great details about phase shifts and axis to explain what this crossover is doing to help
is there a better way to measure it sounds going to me but who knows?

Good evening everybody. I have a few items to install for an Audio System upgrade; but don't know how to go about it. The Items that will be involved are -1 Distribution Block -2 Amps. -1 Capacitor. -1 Equalizer/Crossover -6 Speakers in Total (2 tweeters, 2 Front Door 6.5's, and 2 6x9's) -1 Subwoofer

I'm trying to connect 2 amps; 1 for the Subwoofer and the Second for Speakers. My Aftermarket Head Unit has 3 pairs of RCA plug-ins.
      1) Subwoofer 2) Front 3) Rear.

How Would I connect the 6 speakers (which I'm going to rewire) to the 1st amp? Do I wire the Speakers to the Amp or Straight to the Head unit itself? Also, how would I connect the amp to the Head unit if it only has the 3 RCA plug-ins as stated above?

Any advice or suggestions are Welcomed. Thanks in advance.
