Not sure if it is the same in Jersey but here in Az we always have an infinite people selling cheap gifts for Mothers day, Fathers day, V-day, ect. The funny thing is they do it on the side of just about every corner you come to.

Any who if you have a printer make a card on the computer and you can add a rain check in it for dinner when you are employed once more.

If your mom has a sense of humor, make her the macaroni card. I love that idea and might steal it.

My mother in law would do back flips for it.

Offer to make her a meal. THEN BE THE ONE WHO CLEANS IT ALL UP, DISHES AND EVERYTHING.

A Momma would love that one too

I celebrated mothers day early, because my mom won't be around sunday. She's always wanted an amazon kindle, so i got her that, then a card.

mow the lawn, clean flower beds, wash her car, cook/clean dinner, and vacuum the house/clean the windows. takes a whopping 4 hours but they love you oh so much more.

my mom is 59 and loves to do all that except vacuum since i have a black lab in a house designed for a golden retriever. She also enjoys being able to relax on her day off and just enjoy playing with the dog and having me do what she usually does. I am employed though and pay some of the bills around the house so she is already grateful.

easiest thing though, buy her a card, write a heart felt note in it telling her how grateful you are of her, and make dinner. moms are awesome like that, the simple stuff is what they love more than flashy stuff (from their kids anyways).
