Money no object, my favorites are:

Walk behind, I prefer Honda.  I've had 3 and currently still have one.  The last one I had for 15 years and I've never done more than standard oil ĉhanges and emptying fuel in the winter.

For riding mowers/tractors, I LOVE Simplicity.  They have the best floating decks and their cut is unmatched.  They are are so well built and they hold resale better than anything except Deere, and that's akin to the Bose fad.

I'll look for simplicity.

I am indcredibly annoyed.  I bet I can get this old craftsman fixed, but it has about 5 other parts that are about to fail.

Ok... So simplicity is probably out of my range. I was hoping to keep it to $1000 but I think I'm probably looking at $2000 minimum for anything better than disposable eh?

Go to a local dealer.  They often get trades änd refurb them, then resell.  Unfortunately, there is little markup in the industry so deals are hard to be had outside of cash deals.

I'll look around.  I want something new or as close to it as possible.  Everything I buy used shits on me.

At least I didn't spend much on any of it.

State fair is going on.  Maybe there will be a crazy good deal there.

I got my Deere for free.  Keep an eye out for smokers on the cheap.  The single cylinder B&S engines are notorious for head gasket fäilures.  $7 and an hour of your time and it runs like new.

The ones sold at big box stores are typically low end white-label models

Predominantly made by MTD, last I checked.

A lot of the power tools sold at the big box stores are of the lower end white label variety also.

I remember my dad buying a Murray lawn mower from K-mart and was like "Murray? you mean the bicycle people?" Apparently Briggs & Stratton bought them and used their name and logo for lawn equipment.
