I think I lost a coil.  It's been missing, and started lugging badly.  I smelled raw fuel and the subsequent ignition within the exhaust and it just died.  I hear metal on metal when re-starting.  Pretty sure I broke a rod and/or piston.

I feel you. Never easy hearing those noises. I hope it turns out to be something easy.

It's a rental car.  There's a HUGE step up between models in their lineup.  All the rentals are the lowest of the low.  I had the Touring model with "leather" seats and tech package.  It had literally everything the top tier Grand Touring had minus the Fog lights and I didn't get the pretty gunmetal painted wheels.    Of course I bought mine new too and only put 5000 miles on it, so who knows how it would have turned out, but I am generally a bit better maintaining my vehicles than I think rental places may be.

I do wonder if a manual would have changed your POV on the car.

It wasn't just under powered, but noisy, shifty fit and finish, handling was crap.  I was seriously the most disappointed I have been in a car in a really long time.  I am generally a Mazda fanboy if I have to go Japanese but yikes was that thing a wreck.  It was a stripped out rental so I don't consider it a final conclusion but it was bad.

I met a new woman.

She did a thing to my leg and stretched my psoas.  Along with the other flexors.... it felt like the hand of death was pulling on the inner wall of my abdominals.

No, the manual was slower and I didn't care for how it shifted.  It was notchy.

My 6 was quieter than my Town Car, perfectly finished with not a squeak or rattle, and it handled GREAT!

Except in the snow.  It's far too light for winter driving in NW IN.

The psoas muscle is one of those sweet spots for me. Hurts so good.

And wow on the quieter.  The one I had made my escalade seem completely silent and with long tubes my truck is stinky and loud
