Is Matt's car made in Germany or US?

While the quality tests are indeed higher for the German market units, the failure I don't blame on assembly but design.  Too many computer, too much technology, too many things to go wrong.  It is a disease that all new cars are facing, but the price to repair them on the German cars is not worth suffering through.  Sucks as I am a BMW guy, but after my AMG experience I am done.

The world is really going to cry though as I see Toyota's suffering similar fate now.  Personally I'd buy American if reliability were my interest.  Regrettably outside of GM no one is making 4 door performance vehicles here worth a shit.  And no, Chrysler is not American nor worth buying.

Oddly enough in 2011 my Tundra was the most made in America truck. Damn thing has been dependable so far. At 82k and the only things to go wrong have been minor. Door seal came loose, the radio wasn't functioning properly, and a couple other minor things that suddenly escape me. All covered with no issue under warranty.

Frustrates me because people "want" all this new tech. It is cool to me but given the choice, I would gladly take a 30% cheaper vehicle that is simple.

I chose coverage and being happy over reliability.

My roommate has had some warranty work on his 2 year old focus ST. And he babies the ever loving crap out of it.  I would have burned out 2 sets of tires by now. He still has his originals and. Snows.

Friend got a new Chevy truck and it's literally falling apart.  Just parts coming off. Inside and out.

I guess what I'm saying is that I don't trust any manufacturers at the moment. FI being crammed down everyone's throat has caused a lot of problems.

The engine in the 550 (the turbo V8 with reverse flow) has since had 2 revisions and less than half the problems after they remade it.

It's super obvious that manufacturers were forced into making vehicles they were not ready to.  They are using their consumers and the warranty as a stop gap. Audi and Benz are now forced to have 100k warranties.

I agree that GM is probably the most reliable as when it comes to engines, but boy, are they just put together like crap otherwise.

I can't justify my choice in vehicle, but I can say that BMW has stood by their warranty and done a lot to make me happy.

I told them I could drive my wife's car into work or have her drop me off.  Instead they delivered a brand new, blue plastic on the pedals new, 535xi M sport with everything.

What should frustrate you is that the tech should be elegantly handled. And one type of tech shouldn't cause problems with other tech.

Yeah. I have a black cloud when it comes to vehicles.

I was curious. I do agree that toyota has issues with cars made here and will continue. I hate that they are possibly bringing the 4runner production line over here.

I love the reliability of new cars.  I hate working on them, and they are not as fun to drive IMO.  I thoroughly enjoy a more lifelike driving experience that an older vehicle provides.

. . . But I am sick of always repairing vehicles.  Of course I can remedy that by not having so many.  Hmmmmmm, there's an idea.

"It's hard to untangle the motives of the shooters"? Really Obama? Did you really just say that?

He did.  Because it doesn't make sense.

We still have my wives X3, but i just hate feeling like i need the warranty.  Doesn't bode well for the future of cars if they have to be recycled early because of parts cost.

Maybe I am different, but I just do not understand all this hate on a human level. We all have to live in this world together. No one gets out alive so why is it so hard to make the best of it.

I was raised that regardless what color  or where you are from we are all in this mess together.

It has some potentially  complicated stuff (knob driven 4x4, sliding back glass motor, sirius xm, unique pattern gear shift, funky dash setup) but it's still a Toyota, and I have found numerous people with 150k+ on the factory engines and trannys with no major issues as long as the schedules maintenance is done. As much as I miss an SUV at times, and would consider a Sequoia, I'll more than likely drive it until it dies.

I own a Dodge and a quick Google search will tell you it is number #1 on the list of American built cars. It litterely has more parts built in the US then any other car and it was assembled in Michigan so how is it the car with more American parts then any other vehicle isn't American. And I traded in a older model stratus coupe that gave me 180k trouble free miles never done q thing to it except brakes and tires. And my sister has a Charger with 260k and all its ever had replaced was a altenator and some tune up parts. If that's not reliable I don't know what is.

I don't understand.  I like the car, but the price is retarded.  That should be $15k tops otherwise a different model is in order.

Most of the new tech that causes reliability concerns is not requested by the public, but required thanks to the socialist agenda of the EU or Obama with his stupid ass Cafe regulations.  The end result will not be good for consumers, the manufacturers nor the environment regrettably.
