FiQ 12 question

Recommended Posts

Placing an order next Thursday on an Fi Q 12 and some questions.  Dual 2 ohm model

I'm putting it in a 2005 Jimmy SUV and building a ported box to specs found here http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/topic/44520-q-series-cut-sheets/

After changing my mind 100 times will be powering it with what all you fine people recommend.

Also wondering should I run it at 2 ohms to break it in or just go 1ohm load right off the bat and be careful?

What options should I pick up when I make the order? ported so no High QMS

Do I need heat ring ? internal ring  ? Cooling ? P chamber ? Spider ?

Thnx for your help and can't wait to own this wooofer.

Want SQ over SPL. listen to all types of music but want to be able to feel the bass when I want to. Clean bass is my main objective.

Also am I gonna have to ubgrade any electrical in my vehicle with this much power ?  Also gonna have 4 channel for speakers later on when I have the money. Thnx

This should help you with the options.

If your getting a dual 2 ohm it can only be ran at 1 or 4 ohms. You can ran it at 1 ohm right out of the box. As per electrical definitely do the big 3 and go from there. You may need a extra battery when you add the other amp.

I can't comment on your amps selection since I haven't used those brands but I personally wouldn't buy from onlinecarstereo. You may also consider buying a higher quality used amp as another option.

I thought  Polk audio was a solid product? I know precision was good in the late 90's but was unsure today. Audioqubed I've read on but am unsure. Would anyone consider a refurbished

amp or to much of a risk ?

also thnx on the link. made life so much easier lol

Of those I would go with the SQ-1200 which used to be audio que if you didn't know that.

As already said you can only run it @ 1 ohm or 4 ohm being a dual 2. You will be fine just running it @ 1 ohm right away but like also mentioned upgrade the big 3 to 1/0 wire.

I had cooling, p chamber, and the extra spider on mine and it was pretty nice. It already had internal leads I'm pretty sure.
