strange hissing noise from speakers, help diagnose

Recommended Posts

Hi I was in my friends ride yesterday and heard a problem ive never read about

When he turns his radio on, there is a static noise very similar to one you

might hear from white static on a tv

This noise starts before the music does and continues throughout music play

Besides the annoying sound in the background, the music sounds fine

Dude told me he just got a new radio cause he was hooking

an amp up in the back and his headunit started smoking

I could not figure that 1 out either,

maybe he hooked the remote from the old radio

2 the batt and ground at the same time?

If you have seen my subs in the backseat thread, then u know my standards are not very high

http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/topic/58347-my-system-yep-subs-in-the-backseat-yep/

but this guys system made me shake my head and made me nervous

i was sitting on speaker wires

there was wires hanging out the dash too

I want 2 help him

1. Clean it up haha. 2. Check all the grounds and powers make sure nothing is touching the RCA cables and make sure everything is secured down tight. 3. Check RCA's make sure they are not touching any other wires, and make sure they are not cut or showing bare wire anywhere. if that doesnt help if you are playing with your phone through a AUX jack and it is charging that will give the same static effect/motor noise.

if all else fails try a new pair of RCA jacks.
