What glue to use for putting new dust cover on

Recommended Posts

I got a new dust cover to replace a cracked one and was wondering what I use to glue it on. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Alex

CA glue.

Loctite glue is what you want. You can get it at Walmart.

cyanoacrylate

That's what the glue needs to have. It's the ingredient.

That's right! I used it for a recone and it worked great. Also anything around the house that needs gluing, loctite is perfect. Just don't get it on your hands because its hard to get off.

I couldn't find the amazing goop anywhere. Might just have to use the loctite. It won't hurt anything will it

amazing goop is at auto parts stores like oreilly, auto zone ect.

CA glue works, but for me it makes the surround have white spots.

CA glue can be a little brittle, but for cone to dust cap there isn't a ton of stress and flex and it will work fine.  If you can get Loctite 410 that is best, it is thicker, gap filling and black.  Places like Fastenal usually have it.  Look for a Loctite dealer in your area.

You only get white marks if there are oils for the CA vapors to solidify on.  Clean everything well (with something that won't melt your surround, I use Windex) and you won't have any white marks.
