Not bad either! It reminds me of my Type X mid that's why I asked. If you want to upgrade let me know, I'll let them go cheap.

Oh i see. well im looking for something with a little more mid-bass impact, and output, as well as sq. I'm not sure what to go for.

I'll probably need to go active before i replace the mids  though.

No worries man, they are great mids that I have laying around, so if you decide that you want them let me know. I have no use for them and would let them go for a good price.

They would probably work just fine with your passive crossovers but I would ask an "expert" first lol.

Looks great man!! You should pick up Rick's mids. They have a bit more thump than your current ones from the ones I've heard, but obviously every install is different

Any comments on the SQ would be good.

I've got a comment on the SQ. The next time you use that phrase or SPL I will absolutely stop helping in your thread. I'm not the only one either btw.

It is your attitude. You even agreed to not use it when you joined the forum. Read the terms and conditions.

If you are going to be a dipshit you'll get treated like one.

Take it easy bro. I'm just here to learn more about car audio. Stay on topic please.

If you have a problem with something i say just send me a  PM . It's like taking a shit on my thread when you post stuff like that.

Im really tired after work and sometimes i say stuff the wrong way, please be understanding.

First ill get the passenger side baffle done. I really appreciate the positive remarks on my first try.  smile.png

Then Ill take some pics of my amp and wiring to see if i can get some help bridging it. or I might just take it In to the shop, if you guys think that would be smarter.

Im going to wait to see what bridging the amp and the baffles do for my setup before i buy some mids.

Quentin Jarrell has a design for my sub box, but he's busy or something, as its taking him awhile to get back to me.

I got the second Baffle done! i left this one a little larger, to add a little more mass, and because it still fits. Plus, it lines up perfectly! The difference was not night and day, but i do have an improvement in the mid range. :) not quite good enough for me yet, but definitely is a little better. Now i need a little assistance (or maybe some expert advice) in bridging the amplifier. ;)

Heres the wiring and the apmlifier.

i was not sure if i could do the bridging in the kick panel, because that way when i want to go active, i just have to run the tweets wires there, instead of messing around behind the  amplifier, which is pretty tight. .

If i bridge the speaker wires, do i also bridge the front RCA's or leave the rears hooked up?

Also, im probably going to need some assistance setting gains and crossovers.

If i should just take it to a shop and let them mess with it, just let me know.

i do have some basic wiring skills though

Any tips for me on bridging my amp? i could just jumper channels 3&4 to channels 1&2,  but last time i tried that i sent the amp into protection.

I apologize if i caused hard feelings by incorrectly using the terms SQ or SPL, I will not do so again.

Okay guys so i bridged the amp with channel 3 connected to channel 1, channel 4 connected to channel 2.

I need some help pretty bad. it sounds just as clear as it did before, about the same volume, but when i get to around 30 on the Head unit, it sends the amp into protect mode. i also turned the gains for the channels down about 1/5 turn. im worried that i may be shorting something out. it sounds almost no different than before, except maybe a little less distorted at high volume. i did not bridge the front RCAs to the rear. I'm not sure if i need to.

you'll have to look at the manual for that amp to find out how the rcas and speaker wire need to be hooked up

Please?

I got it. Its something to do with only getting one input per channel and it causes overheating. I'll just take it to a shop to see what I did wrong. I bridged the RCAs also now.

Well, getting help from that shop isn't going to work ;) i just undid all the connections, and put it back to the way it was, and it is louder "unbridged" Ill need to learn some more before i try that again.

funny but manual specifically states if the inputs aren't split with a Y-adapter properly it will cause overheating and premature overheating protection

so I'll take a stab and say you didn't have it hooked properly... it also mentioned improper hookup would result in lower output

The awesome guys at Colorado Car Audio just finished a sweet Dodge Ram 3500 Pro Master Van build with full sound and heat insulation along with a stereo upgrade and the work is very nice!!!
They applied Spectrum and Damplifier Pro CLD to all of the metal to kill vibration noise and help with heat transfer through the metal. They used Luxury Liner Pro MLV+CCF next to block out unwanted airborne noise and thermally insulate the walls. And they used Mega Zorbe Hydrophobic Melamine Foam to absorb sound and thermally insulate the roof of this huge van!!!
When the proper layers are applied to the correct locations, a huge difference in noise level reduction can be achieved. Setting the stage for a nice and clean platform for your stereo to perform in a much more enjoyable environment....especially with these tin can sprinter vans....treating them makes a HUGE difference in noise comfort levels.
Thank you guys for the awesome work and pictures. Thank you for insisting on high-quality Second Skin products for all of your builds. #TeamSecondSkin #SecondSkinUSA #SecondSkinAudio #SecondSkinForTheWin

      Volume : 1 - 1.5?
      Questions:

So I have modeled up a few different enclosure in win isd but I just want some confirmation as to what you guys think will work best for my listening needs. From what I have read on this forum that I believe Fi recommends a tuning between 31-35hz and 1.5 cu ft. Modeled the box up they suggest and some of the numbers in win isd don't seem to comply with recommendations I find online, for ex. port velocity seems way too high ~ 130ft/s and output seems to lack around the 40-50hz region. From what I understand it seems as though when designing a box in a small vehicle such as my VW you can go a little bit higher due to cabin gain if I understand correctly. After modeling it seems as though 1-1.25 cu ft and a tuning of 38hz seems to produce a nice curve that also had minimal group delay and won't produce a ridiculous peak in output. My question is are there any other suggestion as to maybe more box volume or less and will there be any unforeseen issues with tuning to 38hz instead of 35? Also can someone give me any insight on how tuning affects subs ability to play in the 60-100 hz region? If I understand correctly tuning lower limits the sub woofers ability to play the higher notes?
