Design Help For Dual Zcons 15's

Recommended Posts

Your port area isn't as low as I thought it was going to be.

I think the best we are going to get is 7.4 cubes tuned to 32hz with 126in2 of port area. This will be with the dims you gave me with subs/port up.

I always like to paint them to get that shine. If you get the right type of paint and sand well it looks sick as fuck.

But it's up to you. So black carpet? What about the port color?

When building this, I would say building it from the side up would be best. In the pics the box is on it's side, but treat it like it's the bottom. I find it would be easier to build like that.

Also the dowels don't have to be in the exact places I have them, but put them in the areas I have them. I used 2" dowels in the sketchup, but you can use 1.5" too.

The box came out to 7.4 cubes tuned to 32hz with 127in2 of port area.

Here is the cut sheet:

Top/Bottom - 29" x 20"
Port Side - 19.25" x 39"
Back - 29" x 39"
Side - 18.5" x 39"
Front Baffle - 25" x 39"
Inner Baffle - 23.5" x 39"
Port Wall 1 - 15.25" x 39"
Port Wall 2 - 14" x 39"
(2) 2" Port Dowels - 3.5"
2" Vertical Dowel - 13.75"
2" Horizontal Dowel - 23.5"

Yea no problem. I definitely want to see some pics. You understand what I mean by build it from the side up right?

Yeah, I normally dry fit them before I start glueing and screwing. Because I've screwed up and had to go at weird angles because I just started throwing boxes together haha.

90* clamps are awesome and help keep everything square.

Also I often overcut overlap pieces by 1/16 or so then use a flush trim bit to make it all flush. Yeah its a little cheesy but works really well. I can't stand when something isn't flush or didn't square properly, even if it is a small amount. I've seriously recut pieces because of this. Doing the overcut makes everything super clean and often easier to get great results with seams.

I should have pictures up once I get home from work. but the box is pretty much done now. just a little more painting left to do. I messed up and cut out the outside diameter on my double baffle so I ended up getting another piece and glueing it on top. So now its pretty much a triple baffle and kind of makes it look funny. but my cut outs this time are dead on.

Going to do some more sanding and more painting, going to fill the screw holes sand and then paint and it should be ready to go in the jeep hopefully by tomorrow. I have been swamped with work and helping my mom move so i haven't even been staying up to work on it lol.
