Double wall box or single

Recommended Posts

Currently I have one 15" XCON in a ported box powered by a DC Audio 5K at 2 ohms (2300 watts nominal). I built the box with .75" birch and double walled the whole box. I am thinking about getting the new IA Death Penalty and stepping down to a 12" sub. My question is, do you think I should build a double walled box for the 12" DP on a DC 5K at 2 ohms? I don't really want to mess around with dowels for bracing and fiberglass to hold them in.

And the XCON is great, I love it, but I have wanted a Death Penalty for a long time and need to step down in size so I can get some trunk room back for an air tank and compressors.

Sounds overkill. Double the baffle

single wall and bracing should be fine.

do a single and brace it with 3/4 inch wood rods and glass them in

i know you don't want to but that is the way to go

single wall with strategically placed bracing will be a lot lighter than doubling all the walls.  that's where my vote would be...
