01 eclipse port location?

would a  port facing the side work in a 2001 eclipse hatchback.......its about a foot away from the panel

 

if I were to face the port to the back ....the port will only be about an inch  away from the back panel.... and I don't think it will have any air flow.

 

 if I face the port to the side .....will it practically be the same as facing it to the back?

My girl has an '01 eclipse.  I made a amp rack on stilts to  go over that middle hump and have a 15" Fi Q sealed.  The sub sounds good but when turned up rattles the shit out of that hatch door.  I would do sub forward port forward definitely even if you have sound proofed exc.

probably.  The sound you're losing on that back hatch makes me want to pull my hair out, but since she listens to techno mostly she likes the intermittent slams.
