For 2k of power to a sub.

 

How many amps are you really putting thru the wire?

12 or 10 is fine but imo since wire is fairly cheap no harm if u want to use 8g

Use ohms law to calculate current then calculate what you need based on the conductor's length.

Guessing what you think you need is no good.

You need a much larger conductor for a run of 40 feet than 4 inches.

What is the actual voltage a subwoofer sees from the amp?

 

Is 12 volts ac the max?

I am not a expert or a enginer , but I don't get it even using the calculators. Because I don't have all the right answers.

very pointless especially for daily, but it will do if you wanna be cool. As short as subwoofer runs are the bigger wire wont make a difference.

You asked for an 2krm subwoofer. Take a look at an SSA Zcon, the terminals are to fit 8awg wiring. So are you saying they made an wasteful decision? What about Obisidian, their OA line allows 4awg, same can be said for B2 with their XC line.

 

It is an safety hazard to have too small of wire. As questin said, use an calculater. You have been on this forum for too many years to be spoon feed for ANY questions  you have, especially when there is calculators readily available.

Crescendo Audio BC5500. Dual 1/0 inputs. So tell me what happens when you only use half the inputs, or attempt to use 4awg vs 1/0.

I believe that is for 115 volts not 14.2.
