skar audio sk3500.1 power options?

Recommended Posts

ok so I just bought this amp for 475 dollars from a buddy of mine that is switching to sound qubed...im going to either get 2 15s or 4 12s not sure yet or even the brand...I was lookin at the American bass spl 15s...but my buddy told me we could use that amp and wire the subs to 4 ohms and itll only pull around 1500 watts rms and my stock alternator would b sufficient until I can do the upgrade on everything...and he said after I upgrade my electrical we could wire the subs to 2 ohms n get the 3500

so I have several questions.....first off what does everyone think of this amp? ive never heard of it but my buddy said its a beast.....second wat would b the best set up 4 12s or 2 15s? and is the amp even powerfull to push 4 12s? third...what al do I have to do to make sure I dnt fry my electrical system? I mean can I get away with just getting a bigger battery up front or do I have to get a bigger battery up front and a dry cell battery in the trunk and a bigger alternator...

and last to my budget...its like this...im not rich so I want to spend as little as possible but I will spend what I have to...if I have to do all that I will bcuz I dnt want to mess anything up and have to spend double to fix things...

I know its jumbled but I was trying to remember everything I needed to ask...any info will b well appreciated

Telling us your budget is small doesnt help us so give us numbers. We cant tell you what will fit if we dont have dimensions or know what vehicle its going in.

The owner of that brand is a douche but the amp does what it needs to do, put out power to subwoofers so as long as it works 100% you shouldn't have any issues. Amp can push whatever subwoofer setup as long as it fits the power requirements and stable ohm loads of the amp. AGM battery up front and AGM battery in the rear plus H/O alternator will suffice when running that amp at 1ohm.

The vehicle is a 2003 explorer limited..it has the 3rd row seat but it's going to b down.not sire of the exact diminsions the trucks actually in the shop right now.

I've already ordered 2 american bass xfl 15s...that was basically my budget.I'm going to wire them to 4 ohms so the amp only push around 1500 to them for maybe a week or 2 n then I AM A get the extra battery n then wire to 1 ohm n then the alternator last. I'm hoping this all works out like I say I got a buddy that has some rally nice things n he seems to kno his way around all this. Hoping not to fry my elictrical with the amp b4 I get the alternator and battery. He said I'd b good wit the subs wires to 4 ohms it wouldn't pull too much from my elictrical?

Is this going to be daily driver? I would do the battery and alternator before going to 1 ohm.

Yea it's goiNg to b daily driver...I believe I will wait to wire to one ohm...when I do wire it to 1 ohm do u thi k those xfl's will hold thst power? He told me they are undr rated and showed me a YouTube video with 2 of them on 5000 watts

It depends on too many factors for anybody to tell you if the the XFLs can handle more than rated period, such as: listening habits, enclosure, if you can tell if your stressing your subs etc.

when you build to wire to 2 ohm, You can't wire 1 ohm unless you change subs. Go big now or go home. Improve electrical before you tackle blowing equipment

I don't think he posted the coil configuration, unless I'm missing it

I did but I typed it in wrong...they are dual voice coil 4 ohm subs...it's the xfl and we're going to wire them to 4 ohms at first n then to 1 ohm when I can get the alternator...

And I also have a juice box black cherry battery thst came in today...I'm just getting what my buddy tells me he knows more about all this I'm just here trying to get feedback...he's telling me we can hook the battery up and wire the subs to 1 ohm and it won't kill my alternator...idk I'm lost in this but it'll only b for a week or 2 until I get the alternator

Ok...it is finished...I got my explorer bk wit motor replaced n the very same day my alternator went out...juice box drug me on sending the battery so I just went ahead and got the xs power 3100 and I went ahead and got a 240 alternator...is this suffice for the final or do u guys think I need to add anything? We finished it today and man it hits really hard...box tuned to 36 n got music from decaf n we checked and it's at 1.3 ohms I'm not sure exactly how much it loses in that .3 but I can't complain I'm really happy with it

I had almost the same exact set up in my explorer with the big battery in the back running a sundown 3000 for 3 years and it performed fine.

Big 3 and make sure you have good contact with the grounds and hopefully you'll be okay.
