Dual oem alt for cheap upgrade?

Recommended Posts

I can pick alternators for $20 at my local yard, for an extra hundred odd amps would getting a bracket fabbed be worth it? Not planning to exceed 3k rms for a year or so. Just a hifonics brx 2k and a taramps 250x4.

Suppose I'm askin, how much would a bracket and a longer belt run me?

Definitely, now as far as the bracket goes, depends on the motor. What vehicle?

Where can i inquire about a double or triple alt bracket?

And do i just splice the factory wiring or is there a harness?

Nobody makes a bracket and the expense to do so negates the frugality of the pick a part alt.  You should be able to fond a quality 200 amp alt for that for $250.

I have a friend I used to work with and he runs 8 junkyard alternators on his old truck. It's ugly as hell but it does work.

I can get a triple alt bracket, run three oem alts for the time being, and wheN I get my lithiums I can switch to singers

How can you tell me no one makes a bracket? Out of all the builds I've seen on here alone, I call bullshit. People fab multi alt brackets.

Well, I had a response typed out, but I won't even bother.

If you "knew" all this already, why did you ask theother question?

Neer, that's why.

I asked if it was worth it, like, what do people usually charge

For a triple alt bracket

No, not worth. More than an alt. Read above.

Why are you asking a question you already answered?

If you can get a bracket, why are you asking us?

We all bullshit.

Neer.

*facepalm*

For reallll quit shittin on me lmao

Where can I get an estimate on a triple alt bracket for the 5.0, and what do I about the wiring harnesses, can I just splice them together or do I need a device?

I supposed that's what I meant to ask in the first place

I have a friend with a cnc....is it so expensive because they need to know the dimensions of the motor as well and have to precision machine it? I mean, its on my list of things to do anyway, and for forty* bucks I can have the extra amperage until I can afford the Singers and lithium batteries. *minus the cost of the bracket

I'd say run a single stronger alternator.

Try to match one up at a junk yard for a Ford Diesel engine that puts out more than your stock. I know, you have a Mercury, but it's built by Ford.

Worth it to just snag 320 or 370 and call it a day then? Shooting for solid 14.4v at full tilt. Don't plan on more than 4-5k rms for a decent while.

Hifonics 2k, taramps 250x4 and I think I'm gonna put a power strip somewhere in the back for tools n whatever maybe a NES or something. Considering a light bar but that's just an impluse buy, I don't leave the city much.
