Slipping Trans - 1998 'Neer

Do any of you guys in the Fort Wayne area know of any decent transmission shops around here that do payment plans?

I'm in the middle of finding a new apartment so the smaller a hit I can take at once, the better.

Normally id just wait til I had the trans handled to move, but my roommates steal and pawn my shit.

If money is tight,I'd look for a pull-a-part or u-pull it or salvage yard similar.parts can be had super cheap,got the tranny in my car for $130.

Secondly my roommate's would be sporting a few pop knots

Site is a real-time (or as close as possible) list of the parts available at parts yards all over the country. You should easily be able to locate a good used trans for that vehicle near you for a decent price.

In the meantime I would recommend getting some Lucas Transfix to put in this one to help limp it along as long as possible.

You try making sure it's full of transmission fluid ?? Half a quart low will make one act crazy. Especially if the filter needs to be changed.

On that note, hell if it were a GM 6L80 it needs to be a quart higher than the dipstick says to work right.

Exploders, yes. I've had a couple and many in the family, yet never heard the 'Neer and, like I said, I won't comment further.

What do you know about a) a six speed swap or b) a manual swap in these trucks?
