So what's happening after fourth gear? What's the shudder I feel?

and are you referring to overdrive/5th as the torque converter? Tryna get my terminology correct

Could the "shuddering" be it misfiring?

My knowledge is limited but it doesn't feel like a misfire.

But you're right, I'll read those first; This is my first job I've ever worked 60hr weeks, I've been super lazy :P

Post back after that =]

Would a video of my tach and speeedo first through fifth help? I never questioned it being a 98 untio you asked me if I was sure lol

It doesn't matter the year. The 5L Windsor never had a 5 speed auto behind it. Never.

If you have a 5 speed, you have a 4L V6 or the 4.6 V8. Again, impossible to confuse them.

Definitely have the 5.0

I think terminology is what's killing me here.

However many gears, there's a wild shudder occasionally into the last gear

I would have the transmission fully serviced before making any drastic changes.

At least then you will know what you are dealing with.

I think you need to just take it to a professional mechanic to get an accurate diagnosis. If you are in need of a trustworthy mechanic I can give you the contact info for my dad's shop. I think you'll end up chasing your tail trying to figure this one out on your own.

Yeah, it sounds way more involved than I would have hoped. Wish me luck .-.

It NEVER shudders when overdrive is off and only slips when the engine has been warmed up for some time
