Box Help for 2 SSA Evil 15s w/ 4 Stiff Spiders

Recommended Posts

I have 2 SSA Evil D2 15s  with Fresh Recones. The Recones have 4 Stiff Spiders instead of the normal 3 the Evils come with. I am currently running them on 1 Crescendo BC5500 with plans for 2 - BC5500s

My box is 10.13312 Cubic Feet inside after all displacement.

The port inside dimensions are 4.5" wide X 9.25" high X 9.375: deep

I came up with that the box is tuned to 27.5hz

Is this box good or should there be changes. Please give me any help and or input. It is in a hatchback B Pillar Wall

I appreciate all input

Thanks in advance

Did you model this set up in a program to see how it will plot out?

Changes? But you said it was already built and why tune so low?

Downloading modeling software will be your best help.

Yes...but checking port velocity would be the first step. Winisd is free and easy

The port seems tiny for 2 15" evils.  40 sq in of port is hardly enough for one.  According to the calculator I use- 2 evils properly fed need roughly 150" of port area.(for a daily build...even more for all out spl)

But with you running Nendo amps, SSA subs, and a walled hatchback...I wonder if you are messing with us?  I mean thats high grade gear for beginners.

I use - http://www.carstereo.com/help/Articles.cfm?id=31  - to find out port area and length.  Then WinISD(free) to check response and port velocity.

Yikes, I read that wrong.  I thought it was a single driver.  Time for a new box.

If you added a spider, raise the Fs and drop the Vas a little if you model...  Like 5%-10%...

40in3 isn't a small amount of cross-sectional vent area, for any 15" driver with almost any power input...  It is actually a lot...

it's not any...it's 2 15" evils on 10K.

I was recommended 52"/per for my dss subs in an sq-ish build with 1/3 the power.  Maybe I am missing something.

Not bad at all man, great scores. You should post up a build log
