Are the Crescendo BC5500 RCA inputs Single Ended Grounded or Differential?

PLus what would make an RCA Cable Melt and cause Amp to go into Protect weather the cable is connected or not?

Rca cables melting???  That should not happen and is not the root of your problem.

Sounds like bad grounds, very bad grounding issues.
