Goal is 139.9 BassRace in a '12 Grand Cherokee, biggest box I can fit is 5c/f tuned to 34hz for a 18"! Amp is Cactus 5k. Available motors are 1 DC lvl5 m1, 2 Sundown Zv4.rev1. Do I go 1 18" or 2 12"?

If I remember correctly, you have to reach your goal number and hold it for a certain amount of time. Correct ??

Personally, I would trial and error with a pair of 12s on separate lower powered amplifiers. Test and tune from there.

It's all about endurance, not just hitting a goal number.

Stronger motor force with equivalent cone area. Just a thought ???

In your case the 12's would be my vote. But I'm no expert on bass race, I always competed in amature music classes in Meca, and even that was 15-20 years ago. But I have watched the bass races and I would think higher power handling, more cone area, and 2 coils over 1 would be a Benefit.

The idea of 1 18" sounds very sexy but like was said 2 12" may give you better overall experience. I've never competed so take that however you'd like I just like 1 sub setups myself.

Wish I knew more about the limitations on those classes. (I'm more for a SQ guy)

No limits on equipment! Here's one of the videos of my run in the 129.9 class years ago! With 1 IA DeathRow 12"! Hold it steady at the ##9.9 without going over first 30 seconds!
