10s in a center console

Recommended Posts

Well got a customer wanting to do 2 10s in a center console of an suv mainly for midbass .

What iv done already in it is 2 sp4 18s on an ampere 9k .  . 4 crescendo 6.5 neos (one in each door) and a supertweeter in each door . 2 ppi 900.4s (one for mids and one for tweets)  dual alts. Northstar batts and lots of 1/0 . . .

Just looking at any recommendations on what 10s and where to go about tuning the enclosure. . Iv just never had to build something just for midbass befor . .   He was wanting to get the crescendo neo 10 because he has the 6.5s in the doors but not sure about that

What frequency gap is he filling?  Is he opposed to changing the 6.5's to a more dedicated mid?

Like 80 to somewhere in the lower 100s+ mainly . Its just them un mids just dont really do much under 200 hz . .  He is not opposed to changing the 6.5s but just not at the moment . Eventually he wants me to fiberglass some enclosures in the doors for the mids but wants to wait till he has some extra door panels to experiment with. .

Subs are strong from like 25 to the higher 40s. . And mids are "ok" over 200 or so . .

Its a newer extended escalade by the way

The problem is that his whole system is a shit show.

Supertweets have zero place, those mids aren't mids and the cure is not adding more drivers.  I understand his goals are ear bleeding loud, but if he is going through the process of actually trying to add midbass (even if it is mono) then he should also use a real midrange.  It will greatly help blend with those ridiculous tweeters.  Adding midbass to the current setup won't really do a whole lot.

... and loose what little bit of left and right "musical" separation you had to begin with.
