An inch or so is fine.

that would be good news for me than

not sure why, but i thought 2-3 inches of space would be needed

so 1 inch space would be as low as one can go , or a close as one would go

thanks for the fast response

Most people that have downfiring woofers/ports leave 3/4" to maybe 2" of clearance, that's really all that's needed.

nissan 2006

350z

t40001bd

1 each trf2212

12" team rf sub

3 cubes

1" mdf

2 each 4" aeroports

woofer and ports are face up

not using sub down firing

right now box is tuned to 45

i wanted to lower tuning

so i wanted to add as much length to ports to gain the lowest frequency possible with this set up

so if i go ahead and lenghten port to the max i can i wanted to know exactely how much clearance i must leave from the bottom of port to the top of the encl;osures floor

does my ? make sense , am i explaining correctly

thank again JIm

Oh, when you said "floor" I thought whatever you have the box sitting on, not the bottom of the box :)

I'd say 2" is fine, but you could always use elbow joints to extend the ports. Or use external ones.

actually can't use external in my situation distance from port to inside of hatch is to close to externally port

but i have 4" of space from bottom of ports to enclosure floor so if i leave 2" for space i can still extend ports by 2 " each at this time which will make tuning lower not sure how low but lower

thanks for all your time
