    REVIEW TIME >_<

They also do well with about 1kw... Nice drivers, thanks again Nick. Mine is in 2.5 cubes ported to 28hz.

    Look what I found today

I ran a 9512e for a while... but it literally hurt. I chose the D2 so I could have something a little less painful to listen to. Pun intended.
  3. My brother has a Jeep Grand Cherokee, so his sub hits a bit louder/deeper whatever you want to call it. I am more conservative with my gains, and I am geared more toward SQ, and my box is tuned a bit lower, I would say that my setup has better SQ. I'm also in a 2000 Dodge Stratus with the subwoofer in the sealed trunk. T.J. BTW: the BX1500D + SI MAG D2 is a great combo.

    mag power handling

No hard feelings, I must have been crabby last night; maybe it's more of an optical illusion, but I will check it out again, and see if I can get a measurement. Still a damn good sub My personal favorite so far. T.J.

    mag power handling

You do realize that the 24mm linear excursion is probably the standard measurement with 8mm still in the coil, under "normal operating" conditions right? The xmax isn't necessarily how far it CAN move, it's how far it moves while still operating nominally. Take an old sub that you don't use, notice how the xmax might be advertised at 12mm, but you can actually FORCE the cone in a few inches? That's all I'm saying. I'll try for videos, since if you can get it on a video, with a COA, and a matching police report, it must be fake if it's on the internet, right? T.J.

    mag power handling

It was definitely interesting. I could actually see the surround folding over funny or crimping from being stretched out that far, then sucked back in that far. Pretty wierd, I don't know if I'd recommend it, but everything seems fine, as it still plays as good as it did last week. T.J.

    mag power handling

Well, just thought that I'd say this: The mag doesn't appear to be blowable by overexcursion (unless repeated use deterioriates the quality of some parts). I know very little about speaker design, however when playing straight up test tones, at NEAR 0hz, I can get the sub to move approx 6" (full-cycle). The sub appears to have sustained no damage from this at all. While sound output was basically non-existent, it was really, really cool. I believe these drivers are built top-notch and I cannot wait to try some other "tests" and "applications". T.J.

    8" woofers

I have a 2000 Dodge stratus, and it has stock 6x9 rear deck factory speakers... I found that if I mounted my speakers under the rear deck, instead of on top, I did not even have to cut anything, just drill a couple new holes. It was for my midbass, but since I was running a loud sub, I decided to drop the idea. I am running Beals Brothers 8" subs. They sounded great, and I believe they are around 110w RMS. If you want to give them a try, I'll sell you them both for around $75 shipped. They are SVC 2 ohm subs. Let me know if you are interested! T.J. talbrech@css.edu AIM:tobzzbot MSN:tobzzbot@hotmail.com
  9. From experience, my brother and I both run Hifonics Brutus BX1500D's with our SI Magnum D2 12's. He has a 2.5cu box slot ported/tuned to 32hz. I have a 2.4cu box ported/tuned to 28hz. They are both louder than anything that anyone near us has. Everyone asks us if we're running dual 15's, or something crazy like that. Plus, the SQ is really nice. I cannot wait to try my D2 sealed. BTW, there should not be a $100-150 difference between BX1000 and BX1500's prices. The BX1000 is $219 + shipping on eBay, and the BX1500 is $254 + shipping on ebay. I know that not everyone loves eBay, but if you buy smart, you should be fine. Most come with a non-DOA warranty, and some with a 1 year warranty. I have yet to run into a bad BX1500D from eBay. Yeah... so that's my $.02 T.J.
  10. $37 for a 4 guage kit at www.knukonceptz.com shipped. I run it, I like it. Nice RCA's, comes with everything I needed, including lots of 12ga high strand speaker wire. T.J.
