The new Ford Taurus SHO is supposed to be a 300+ hp V6, low in the pricerange too from what I hear.

    Awesome sub, weird box

That box sounded like shit, it was full of holes, had a harsh kinda buzzing sound to the upper bass fq (above 50hz), the lower fq were fine. It took me most of a tube of silicone just to try and plug most of them and I had piles of sawdust under the box (looked like little ant hills) from it blowing out of the holes. But I took it back and made him build me a new one, this one is a little shorter with less airspace but the same width and port size, so its tuned lower. He took his time and built it airtight, with the exact same port design and it made a whole world of differance. Now it sounds amazing, I even started listening to more rock and country to hear how great it reproduces the natural bass notes and the fast cascades and kickdrums and stuff like that as opposed to the synthisized bass of rap(not that there's a problem there either, I just enjoy hearing it). So it doesn't seem to affect the sound in a negative way (I've never heard another DCON) and I am very happy with it, my friends are pretty impressed too.
  3. Vortec 5.7 best most reliable engine ever made, in my opinion. The Vortec 5700 L31 is a V8 truck engine. Displacement is 5.7 L. It is the last production Generation I small-block from Chevrolet. The cylinder heads feature combustion chambers very similar to those of the LT1 V8, but without the reverse-flow cooling. As such, the L31 head is compatible with all older small-blocks, and is a very popular upgrade. It offers the performance of more expensive heads, at a much lower cost. It does, however, require a specific intake manifold (a Vortec head has four bolts attaching the intake manifold as opposed to the traditional six bolts per head). The L31 was replaced by the 5.3 L 5300 LM7. The 2002 model year was the final year for the L31 5.7 L small block V-8 whose origins date back to 1955. The Vortec 5700 produces 255 horsepower (190 kW) and 330 ft·lbf (450 N·m) of torque. It is currently being produced as a crate engine for marine applications and automotive hobbyists as the "ramjet 350" with minor modifications. L31 applications: 1996-2003 Chevrolet Express/GMC Savana full-size vans 1996-1999 Chevrolet/GMC C/K full-size trucks 1996-1999 Chevrolet Suburban/GMC Suburban full-size long-wheelbase SUVs 1996-1999 Chevrolet Tahoe/GMC Yukon (and 2000 Tahoe Limited) full-size short-wheelbase SUVs 1999-2000 Cadillac Escalade

    My SSA DCON video

eah, if i do I'll just go back to 2 10in DCON's in a sealed box. In the mean time I'm waiting for a better box to put the 12 in and see if that helps. What if I tuned the box to 25hz??

    My SSA DCON video

The box is supposedly tuned to 31hz and the SSF, well thats a mystery, I can find no literature on the SSF setting of my amp it's a Diamond D400.1. Also the box is still full of airholes, I am having a new box built this week and its gonna be sprayed with bed liner, do you think it will make a difference in the SQ or output?? OK, just called Diamond Audio and they said it's set at 25hz.

    ssa stickers

They will be in next week! Just ordered quite a few of them. They will be available in the SSA store at that point. Thanks for repp'in SSA! We are out of the "give away" versions. We went through 1000 of them. I want a big white one like you used to have on the back of your Hyundai.
  11. I'm not very good with box designs but what do you, and by you I mean people that know about this stuff, think of running 1 SSA DCON in at roughly 2.5- 3ft^3 box with a passive radiator??? I like the idea and it would solve a few issues for me, but Im not shure how it would sound. I know thats a pretty big box for a DCON so what would the consequenses be?? This would be in a foward firing box in an 02 ext cab GMC sierra running at about 400watts. I know nothing about passive radiators except that there supposed to act kinda like ports, I think, so any help with tunning or suggesting a specific radiator would be appriciated.
  12. Yeah, but a trianglular port with a rectangular opening??? Shouldn't matter.. ports are tuned by area and length. So the cross sectional area of the triangle should be equal to the area of the rectangular opening. Do the numbers. Let us know if this is right.. I'll take some mesurements this afternoon when I wake up, I'll post whatever I find out, but it sure does still sound good.
