Yes. Absolutely. That would be a complete waste. Goal is to up the big hole in the FR you have and that requires sensitivity in the midrange, the porting buys you a deeper response. You won't have a midbass monster, but something has to give.Understood.

conventional or non-pa 6.5" drivers wont stand a chance at the output levels you're looking to achieve. what is being suggested are horns under the dash matched to a large pa driver in the doors. the horns would be something like the image dynamic full bodies. Thank you Chief.

When you say "horns" you mean like what image dynamics used to make? Can you still find those kind of horns? Yeah, no fart cannon, plz. My wife and I just a bout died reading that discription. I don't mind spending what needs to be spent on the front. Anything worth doing, is worth doing right. I'm a lifter. I believe in being well rounded and proportioned. Not this huge upper body chicken leg syndrome. What Effort I put in the back I will do equally in the front. You mention in a prev post about doing a ported enclosure in the doors and a 10". Would doing a ported enclosure and using something like the DD sw6.5 or the American bass alternative, and using horns on doors and dash with tweets (not FT1) on the center channel and window molding be a good starting point?

It's nobody from the internet. Wyvon of Wyvon audio is who I'm having help construct the box. No,no fart cannon ( not sure I understand what you mean by that ) it's hard to describe what I'm looking for. I want to feel the bass hit the ground outside the vehicle and crush your chest while your inside but still enjoy the music. I'm not looking for a one note, not looking to shatter any records, I'm looking for weekend driver on music solely for enjoyment that makes you want to get out. The FT1 came from too much YouTube. I'm trying to get down to the show this weekend in Va to see what people are running. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

The reply I got was "Ported or dual reflex band pass designs. They are not sealed or 4th order friendly for most applications."

Here is the second half of the email I got. "applications may not push them to their full potential. We recommend ported applications with the teams. Either 2nd or 6th order. Standard ported setup with subs up and port up or back should work well in the Explorer. 6-8 cuft per sub tuned from 28-33Hz with the subsonic filter set 1-3 Hz below tuning will keep things working well. Please let us know if we can help with anything else. Thanks, Fi Car Audio Sales Team" That's why we opted to do the 6th. Could have been a typing error. I'm emailing back to get clarification.

Your right, I know very little about box building but I have a box builder going to help out so I can learn and get practice. Fi recommended either 2nd or 6th. For right now the set up will only be the 2 18s.
  10. I have a 2014 Ford Explorer sport. 2 Fi team 18s, (2more added later) ported 6th order, 7cuft per sub tuned to 33Hz and will be using a crescendo BC encore 12k. My center ch I can fit a 6.5 pwx or 2 FT1 super tweets. Any recommendations for the doors? I got room for 2-3 8" mids per door (if I customize/deaden and seal the doors) and 2 FT1 tweets. Daily driver Currently 1 370a singer alt and a 200 stock alt with 1 xs D3100. (Will be replacing the stock alt with another 300 plus singer) Headunit = kenwood DDX9702s Thanks!
